I figured since we started a thread about Arrow yesterday, it only seemed appropriate we bring up Marvel's big foray into the TV universe: Agents of SHIELD. This show seems to have a lot of people divided so I want to hear what ya'll think about the show.

I laboured through the first 9 episodes, and to be honest only really enjoyed the Asgardian one. After that I stopped watching it, although I do intend to catch up at some point when I run out better programs to watch. Just found it quite boring, there's nothing which makes it stand out against a lot of other shows in a similar vein, which when given the universe they have access to, is disappointing. I am hoping it's just a slow start and it picks up, like the first 7 or 8 episodes of Fringe before everything fell into place.

Yeah I've been very cold on this series since it started, which is odd because I love the setting and most of the people involved. I too hope it's just a slow start (Jane Esperson said that all good shows take time to develop) and it will get better with time, but it's been rough so far. I haven't given up on it yet though.

To be fair I've quite enjoyed it but I understand where the criticism comes from as not a lot has happened. I enjoy the dialogue and setting but they do need to start introducing powered people!!! I think heroes season 1 is the super hero show benchmark buts let's forget about the other seasons Though Sylar is the best baddie ever!!!

I wanted to love it but as others have said things have been rather boring. Shows take time to develop so I am not opposed to trying it again but I'll wait and see what people say. Arrow took a big step as in progressed but having said that I really enjoyed Arrow season one right from the start as where with shield I never seemed to get into it. With shield at times I forget I am watching a comic related show. It's just a standard cop show at times to me with some high tech stuff. Arrow always feels like a comic show which is what I want. With work and the kids I watch very little tv so I need a show to really suck me in to get me committed. Right now Arrow is the only show I watch on tv.

I definitely feel you there. The pilot just didn't grab me like I was hoping it would. I think I'd enjoy the show once the season is all said and done and I can just marathon through the show because right now it's just not holding me on a weekly basis. Hopefully it gets renewed though because, like a lot of Whedon shows, they're cut down before they get a chance to really shine. The ratings aren't great though...but who knows? I WANT this show to do well.

I watched the first three episodes and it just didn't pull me in. I felt it was so much more campy than it needed to be. I'm going to give it another shot eventually.

I 'liked' the first 10 episodes, but it wasn't enough for me. I think what I'm going to do is wait for the season to finish and watch it all in a short amount of time and see if that helps at all. I just don't feel like Coulson is the best character to lead a TV show with, he's great comic relief but leading man not so much.

I think that's the big issue: The show anchors on the performance of Clark Gregg as Coulson and as good of an actor as Gregg is, he's a comic relief character taking on a hero role. In small doses it works, but for a show not so much.

Yeah, the show for me just isn't hitting the mark. It's a good show, not a great show. It's not a show that I feel compelled to watch every week... in fact, I would be perfectly happy to just wait for it to be collected on DVD whether in individual seasons or in a complete set.
I kind of feel like they led us astray as to what the series would be when they were promoting it. I felt like it was going to be superpowered agents and instead we just got such flat, boring characters. Although not all of them are boring. Just Sky(e?) and Agent What's-His-Name.
I wanted to LOVE this show... really, I did, but it's just so forgettable. I loved that crap out of the episode with Gemma/Jemma getting sick. I don't know if everyone has seen the episodes so I won't spoil, but that episode was genuinely emotional for me and at a couple points in time, I found myself getting weepy.

Yeah I really liked that episode and I think it's probably the only one so far that really felt like there was something at stake. I actually really like the big tough dude who's name just can not be remembered!!!!

The thing is, if everybody waits to see if it gets better or to get the box-set, it won't get a chance to improve. I hope the ongoing movie successes can subsidise the show to give it a chance to evolve.

I tend to be a little harsh sometimes when I critique shows or movies so if I am here I'm sorry! But to be quite honest I do not like this show one bit, this coming from someone who doesnt read DC nor care for any DC characters (Batman excluded) and has loved Marvel since the 90's X-Men cartoon.
Oddly enough I thought I would love this show and hate Arrow, it's actually the exact opposite. I LOVE Arrow and cant bring myself to watch anymore AoS. AoS is just sooooooo dull and boring, the combat in Arrow is also vastly superior to what you find in AoS. AoS fight scenes remind me of really badly done Power Rangers fight scenes....
To sum it up short instead of just dragging it on when I watch AoS I find myself on my phone more than actually paying attention to whats going on. In my opinnion if a TV show cant keep me off my phone for the 30 mins/hour its on then it just isnt doing it for me. EX: Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones my phone doesnt even touch my hand. I'd really like to see this show pick up and get my interest but as of now I'm officially off.

I haven't watched the latest episode but yeah like a lot of people i also think it would and could be better, but i also think that in time it will be so i'm gonna keep watching. Arrow also wasn't really good at first i thought and i almost dropped it but i'm glad i didn't cause i now think its great for the most part and i think this show will be too, just a bummer its not really great at the moment.

I'm really hoping that this show picks up steam now that its back from break. I'm really starting to like Fitz and Simmons as characters. Ward is still boring as hell.
