So Luc Besson announced he's making a movie based on the Valerian comics set for release in 2017 starring Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne.
I find his movies a bit hit or miss. Did not like Lucy one bit. But I absolutely love The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. And more importantly Fifth Element which is probably my second favourite movie of all time. And he, I won't say stole, but took liberally from the Valerian comics as inspiration visually (as well as the Incal visually and storywise which resulted in the court case between him and Mobius, anyway) for Fifth Element. So him making another sci-fi film along those lines is really exciting. Plus Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne are amazing choices. I'm hoping this turns out to be what Jupiter Ascending should have been. Also hoping this means a lot of the original Valerian books get reprinted. Almost impossible to track down most of them without paying stupid amounts of money for it.
Has anyone else read these comics? If there's one thing I feel like I'm missing out on in the world of comics its everything happening in France. Because we only get so much translated and the majority of it is incredible, both story and 99% of the time art is nothing short of amazing. Maybe I should just learn French.
