I was curious if there are any good fantasy comics out there in a similar vein to Tolkien's books or even the Elder Scrolls games. Its something I am really surprised hasn't been adapted to comics form yet because it would work perfectly (I know the Hobbit has one but it is very much aimed at kids)
I've read The Ring of Nibelung which is as close as someone could get to Lord of the Rings in comic form, especially considering it's an adaptation of an opera which Tokien got the idea for LOTR from. And it's incredible. But other than that, there doesn't seem to be much.
I know there's plenty of fantasy comics out there. Conan and Red Sonja and all that sword and sorcery and of course Thor but they're their own thing, not entirely serious fantasy and can be very tongue in cheek about it at times.
There's D&D comics I've yet to try just because of how daunting it feels to try to enter the D&D world. It's also hard ot tell the reviews as they are often by people who play D&D and not just regular comic readers.
Am I missing anything? I've searched "comics like Lord of the Rings" a billion times hoping to come across some editorial or something but there isn't even that. And every time I search "fantasy comics" it comes up with things like Conan, Red Sonja and Fables which again, are their own thing.
Been really in the mood for high fantasy adventure so if there is anything out there I'd love to know.

There's a series of Dragon Age comics from Dark Horse that may fit the bill. I've read some recently and quite enjoyed them, may be worth checking out!

Dynamite did a series based on R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden books (which are also phenominal). They never did all the books but the couple they did (Homeland, Exile, Crystal Sharrd) are really good.

For the sake of completeness I'll point out that there are comic adaptations of some of both Joe Abercrombie's and George R R Martin's fantasy books. Honestly, though, I'd recommend reading the prose books in both cases...

Birthright is something similar, but has some twists involving "the real world" in addition to "the fantasy world" but it might scratch the same itch.

Orc Stain is a magnificent piece of insanity. Not sure that it meets the brief, but certainly worth taking a look at.
