If you haven't read Angela Fowler's piece over on the blog, it is fantastic:
talkingcomicbooks.com/2014/12/11/secret-keeping-women-superhero-shows/
The topic has been coming up in a number of places -- the Lois Lane phenomenon. There's been a lot of focus on women in comics, and whether Wonder Woman (for example) can carry a movie, but we seem to be in a moment when folks are realizing just how lazy that trope is. It seems so obvious with first two awful seasons of Laurel in Arrow and then immediately Iris in Flash. The fact that Felicity is the breakout character of the Arrow. The fact that EVERYONE on screen knows what's going on except for the Lois. The fact that these women invariably come off as kill-joy, wet blanket, scold who the fans come to hate. Have you noticed how good Laurel has been since she's been let in on the secret?
Anyway, read the piece. It's great.

"It would be like if there was a serial killer operating and Central City, and Joe didn’t tell Iris, because her knowing would put her in danger. Uh… no? I think Iris needs to know there’s a serial killer."
Best. Line. Ever.
