So, I got this game when it was released and put in about 8 hours in the first... well almost 3 weeks. Thought it was pretty fun and definitely appreciated many aspects of the game...
...but then I took Monday off from work because I was "sick." Was planning on playing some different games, well, I started this at 7am and literally played it the ENTIRE day. Right now, I'm thinking this is my GOTY and I haven't had this much pure enjoyment from an open world shooter in a long, long time. I don't even consider using the supplied "fast travel" locations since the traversal of the city is so much fun. The characters, dialogue, humor are all excellent. The co-op online mode (chaos squad) is even a great diversion from the single player stuff and I love how you can jump in and out of it from the city rather than through some menu interface. Despite what some people say, I actually think the plot and story are quite good and under-appreciated.
And the weapons! My god... I only wish I could figure out a faster way to earn more overdrive because there's so many of them and they can cost quite a bit!
Insomniac did a great job with this game. I hope it sold well and warrants a sequel because it was released surrounded by HUGE games like Halo and COD and Assassin's Creed, and I feel like, despite MS's marketing, it kind of got lost despite the critical acclaim it received. Unlike all those other AAA titles, Sunset runs extremely well and I personally haven't experienced ANY bugs with it. It's a solid release that had adequate QA testing... with all these other bugging releases lately, I think it makes me appreciate it even more.
