Yup that's a great sale!
Already bought and read all of Abe Sapien: The Drowning and Lobster Johnson: The Iron Prometheus and like Hellboy this is also great stuff.
I especially like the Lobster Johnson character, A real badass fighting nazis, gangsters and all sorts of creatures.

I'm sucked into the Hellboy universe w/ the Hellboy Library Ed. & the BPRD 1946-48 tpbs plus the Vampire series. The young Hellboy in Hellboy Midnight Circus OGN had me so excited for the character. I don't read a lot of non-DC & non-Image but Hellboy is indeed a step above the rest.

Anybody read the first issue from the new Lobster Johnson- Get the Lobster mini series? What did you think? I haven't read it yet and am wondering if I want to pick up the single issues or wait for the trade. Thanks!

But first there's so much other Mignolaverse stuff to read, its gonna take me a while.
This weekend i started reading some B.P.R.D. books and now i want to read all of it, that's how good it is. I started with Hollow Earth, which is a great three issue story with Abe, Roger and Johann Kraus trying to find Liz Sherman with great art by Ryan Sook. And also read The Soul of Venice which is a pretty good one issue story with Michael Avon Oeming(Powers) doing the art.

Yeah, as someone who's pretty new to the world of Hellboy, it's both daunting and amazing as I start to read through all the different books in the universe. I love Mike Mignola's art, but a lot of great artists have done work on various books, and I'm glad that world isn't reliant solely on Mignola. I recently read the first Abe Sapien mini, The Drowning, and the art was amazing. The story was fine, but the art made it pretty special. I'll definitely check out Hollow Earth and Soul of Venice. I also want to check out the Baltimore and Witchfinder books.

There are 4 of those Plague Of Frogs volumes which collect the majority of the available BPRD books. I haven't started collecting anything after Plague Of Frogs yet but will get on it soon.

Yeah i'm definitely going to get the other volumes too someday, but first i'm going to take my time with this one.
For me this is probably the best storyline of the Mignolaverse that i've read so far. Its such a long and epic story that took years to finish, it actually sort of started in the first Hellboy book Seed of Destruction.
I've only just read one chapter of the HC, but its so interesting and good, and while the Mignola art will always be my favourite, i also love the Guy Davis art, who had done most of this book and the storyline i think. And they also introduce a really interesting new character called Daimio in the beginning, can't wait to see what his story is.

I read somewhere online that next saturday is the 20th Anniversary of the first Hellboy book Seed of Destruction, they're calling that day Hellboy day. I'm really hoping for a big sale on the Dark Horse app or something like that.

If any of you are interested in Hellboy, there are a couple of articles on the character up on IGN right now. Including one that talks about what makes the character cool and one with 20 amazing Hellboy covers(really dig the Hellboy as Santa Clause cover)

Well it took me about half a year but i finally finished reading the BPRD Plague of Frogs story arc(12 mini-series) It surprises me a bit that this series doesn't get a whole lot of attention but it really should.I can recommend this to anyone who's a fan of epic supernatural horror stories.Great stuff!

I've read everything in the Mignolaverse (Hellboy/BPRD/Abe Sapien/Lobster Johnson/Witchfinder/Sledgehammer) and nothing compares to its greatness! Also a lot of people have seen the Hellboy movies, but make sure to check out the two animated ones, IMO they are way better. The only problem with some of these comics is the incredibly long wait between issues (I'm looking at you, Hellboy in Hell) that makes it very difficult to keep track of the dense (yet amazing) storytelling. I'm also really excited for the newly announced Hellboy and the B.P.R.D ongoing, which takes place during some of his first missions and is supposedly a direct continuation of the 1948 stuff.

That new Hellboy and the BPRD book also sounds very interesting to me, especially after hearing that Alex Maleev is gonna be the artist. Its probably going to be a while before i pick it up though, first i want to get caught up on all the other stuff. First on my list are the 1946,47,48 books.

Anybody pick up issue 1 of Hellboy and the BPRD? Alex Maleev's art (with as always awesome colors from Dave Stewart) is the real highlight here. The story's fine as a nice introduction to the universe and gateway to the BPRD comics, but the art fits so nicely with the hellboy universe. That splash page with Professor Bruttenholm's vision of Hellboy is just awesome.
