Maybe Bob can you weigh in but I just realized that Tom DeFalco was the writer during the Clone Saga and I wonder how he felt around that time. While many don't like that era of Spider-man, it seems like Reilly could have been a viable character and it seems like the Spider-Girl series may have been DeFalco trying to continue the legacy of the work he did on that character. Bobby, I was so annoyed when hearing that the previous decade of Spider-Man stories that I had read did not feature Peter Parker, I not only stopped reading the title, but I sold off my entire collection. Granted, it didn't include Amazing Fantasy #15 or Spider-Man #1, and it was sorta light on the first 10 issues (they had been traded for FF issues back in the Sixties), but I thought I was making a statement nonetheless. I don't hold it against Mr. DeFalco (well, maybe a little) as things did revert, and his Spider-Girl is one of my all-time favorites, as seen by this article about May "Mayday" Parker.Ugh! Bob, it hurts my heart to hear you say this. No matter what they do with Spider-man(Swap his brain or kill his marriage), I don't think I could have done that. Spider-man is one of my favorite characters from my childhood and I've worked pretty hard to build my collection. ASM and Uncanny X-Men are the only Superhero books I "collect". Anyway, I just started going back and reading spider girl because of this event. I never read it before because I figured it was just a knock off character to sell to fans (Sorry Ben and Kaine). But so far it's been a really nice surprise. She has a persona and character that is really fun.

Spider-Man and the flash have always been my favorites. I've never dropped the flash even tho the current run is just ok. It's still more palatable than spiderverse. I liked the new amazing run until the abomination that is spiderverse came along. Can I just get some straight forward spidey stories please? I'm tired of this nonsense. Spiderverse has had no less than ten blasphemous moments.
I wanted to love it, but I just can't. They've officially run out of ideas. Love the art though and I still like Dan slott. I hope he cleans this mess up after secret wars.

I love his supporting cast. I love his villains. That's why I love the Ultimate Spidey run so much. It never goes too bonkers and all the characters get time of day and you grow to love them more than him. And so when you do introduce a crazy bonkers element, it makes it a fun surprise eg Batman is almost always street based and dark and thats why you love him, but then when you have him go to Apokalips and fight Darkseid its something crazy and new and fun. But on the flipside if you have Batman doing that every month and then joining the GL Corps and fighting planets and demons and swapping bodies with the Joker every single time... it loses its impact. And Spider-Man has literally been time and dimension and body hopping for how many years now I can't even keep track. Oh well. Thats what back issues are for I guess.

Couldn't have said it better myself bro. I'm almost at the point where I feel like quitting. Maybe I just need a break.

I never got into Spider-Man proper. Like Bucky is my Cap, Ben was my Spidey. I also enjoyed Maine's Scarlet Spider run so I'll be disappointed if Slott really did what it looked like. Scarlet Spiders was a great read and the only Spider-verse title I read, though I am enjoying the mobile game.

Simply because Spider-Man was one of my favorites was the reason I felt so...betrayed, I guess you'd say, that I just couldn't continue, much as I stopped collecting Captain America last year after what I felt were some terribly off-model actions by Steve that Mr. Remender had thrown into the mix. Glad that you're enjoying Spider-Girls's adventures, and after reading them, I'm sure that you see why my knickers were in a knot with Dan Slott's usage of May and her supporting cast.

Bob,
I may not always agree with your opinions (majority, yes. but not all...LOL), but one thing I will never question is your passion for comics and the characters you love. And, while I enjoyed Remender"s Cap, I truely hope you get your version back.
I will say I felt the same way when I read "One More Day". I think part of the difference was I knew it was coming, so I was able to prepare myself. If I had read it in real time like many did, I may have gone to the same extremes. I was still very frusturated by the whole thing mainly becuase what could have been. Up to that point Spider-Man was taking huge leap in his growth as a character and to see it get flushed so they could revert Peter Parker back to a prepetual child that continues to make the same mistakes was sad. But, like the following arc, this is a "Brand New Day" and I have enjoyed the majority of Slott's run. One of these days, I will have to post a more complete rant about the whole thing, but for now this will have to do.

(....or so they tell us!) While having foreknowledge might have helped me out back during the "Clone Saga" (it still hurts to type that!), knowing so far out that the futures of many of my favorite Marvel characters are up in the air is causing me no end of tsouris!

Or, and this could happen, all the older versions of the original x-men are killed and the young original 5 are now the x-men, so we can relive the tales of their young done by new creators.

And Spider-Verse is "over"....I found the ending of the Inheritors ironic as now they will go to the bunker rather than the Spiders hiding from them. I hope Kaine survives....and well Otto doing that was unexpected. Now to wait for the epilogue!
And on Spider-Woman, it was a good issue. Liked how half it showed parts of Amazing #14 and the rest shapes how the book will be from now on and a reason for the new suit. I'm also glad that this is the last we will see of Land on art.

I thought it was a little anticlimactic. I mean, in the early issues of the event 1 inheritor could crush a large gang of spideys, but here they seemed to just get steamrolled. I've kept up with every tie in to the event except the spider woman series, but I still felt like I was missing something here. I totally dug Gwen's attitude on pages 1-2 when Peter calls for her rescue. I wonder how much Otto's actions tie in with secret wars? give me more Miles Morales and Spider-Speed Buggy. looking forward to the epilogue in a couple weeks as this felt like it ended really abruptly and I want a little more closure. the kind of sad thing is Amazing Spider Man is set to come off my pull list once the event is over and I really don't regret that decision. fun event, but wasn't something to get me dedicated to the series. I think it might be because I found a bunch of the alternate reality spider-folk to be WAY more interesting than Peter Parker. 2099, Lady Spider, Sp//dr, Gwen, Mayday. Spider-Tron, and a couple others I can't remember at the moment.

This event turned out to be really flat in my opinion. The buildup took forever and the story playing out was so rushed...and once again, Pete was not the hero in his own book. Remember the good old days when he could actually beat a villain without being rescued over and over again?
I really feel like this book needs some fresh blood on it. Slott is a good writer (i.e. Silver Surfer), but I am not a fan of his Spidey run at all.

But yeah, that was a great Gwen moment and I would read a mini with Miles and Spider-Speed Buggy! Ohh and we are getting a Spider-Verse book (not so sure if is a mini...but I bet it is) out of Secret Wars with a team made up of: Gwen, India, UK, Anya and Noir. I will pick that one up, although I hope we get to see Spider-Punk, Lady Spider and Sp//dr soon.

Love slott on spider man, don't love slott doing massive events where there's 100 spider people.
