Hi all, I have been a TC fan for ages now and thought this forum would be a good place to get some insight into a an area of my PhD research that I hope to pursue in the future. Basically I am interested in anybody who has knowledge or experience in using the comics medium as academic research, particularly in the social sciences. I am currently doing a PhD in Education, looking into the emotions teachers experience in their lives. I am hoping to represent the experiences of my participants (student-teachers) in a graphic or comics format. I am intending to write up some narratives of student teachers lives in a comic script and for an artist to illustrate the story. Traditionally qualitative research is represented in written form, sometimes using photography or single pieces or art. I have yet to find anything substantial in a graphic format. One person doing the philosophy of visual representation, using the comics medium is a fellow by the name of Nick Sousanis ( spinweaveandcut.blogspot.com.au/). If you are interested in such things I highly recommend you check out his uploaded pages for his developing thesis. If anybody knows of any other works that I could reference I would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
