So I only just saw this news and am in shock.
My wife absolutely loves Archie comics and grew up reading them so when I went to SDCC 2012 I had the pleasure of meeting Stan Goldberg and spoke to him and his wife for over an hour, also getting a drawing of Archie and Betty (as myself and my wife) as an anniversary present. It was this experience that made me pick up and read my first Archie comic (although it was Archie meets Punisher so I hope that counts)
That was my first Comic Con and although I saw many amazing things, the 2 things I always talk about to this day are how lovely and talkative Stan Goldberg was and also the same about Mick Gray.
This is really, really sad news.
I wonder, did anybody else here have the pleasure of meeting him at any point and also what are some of your favorite books he's worked on?

Benjamin, What a great story about a legendary figure! I never had the honor of meeting him, but all of the habitues from my LCS who had encountered him told similar stories about his kindness and generosity! I made sure to mention Mr. Goldberg's passing on this week's show, along with some of the highlights from his distinguished career, which included being the Marvel colorist responsible for designing the color schemes on the early Silver Age books such as Fantastic Four!

You'll be happy to know that the Harvey Awards gave him the posthumous Dick Giordano Humanitarian Award
