Well its official: Dwayne Johnson is Black Adam and the Shazam movie is officially announced. Makes me curious as to who will be Shazam.
I'm excited no matter what, but this comment about the film from New Lines president should put to rest all those Man of Steel tone worries. He said it "will have a sense of fun and a sense of humor. But the stakes have to be real."
And it is being written by Darren Lemke who wrote Jack the Giant Slayer which was tons of fun.

Very excited about this:
So, some speculation: who do we think should be playing the good Captain??? A CGI version of Fred MacMurray?

Very excited about this: So, some speculation: who do we think should be playing the good Captain??? A CGI version of Fred MacMurray? ...or perhaps a CGI Tom Tyler? In a perfect world. Makes me wonder, the Rock is the selling point for this movie. People will be going for him. So I get a strong feeling he will be playing both Black Adam and Shazam, and each of their regular selves will be other actors, because its the power of Shazam so it would be easy to explain that the power makes the person look like that. And having the Rock face off against himself would pretty much break the world. Other than that I'm trying to think of another giant actor that is well known enough to face off against the Rock both as characters and as star power. Only one I can think of is Chris Hemsworth but I think he's otherwise occupied. That being said I saw an article tackling this question and half of the choices were either ridiculously stupid or never going to happen, but one of them was Jake Gylenhaal. I could see this. Shazam doesn't have to be a giant, he just has to be bigger than a child. And we've seen from Prince of Persia that even though it was a not-so-great film, he could definitely physically play a superhero. And he is a great actor (End of Watch is incredible). Plus he has a childlike quality about his personality that would definitely work.
