Off the top of my head (as good a way to answer this as any...) Morisson's Doom Patrol just has so much going for it, throwing so many odd ideas out at once whilst still staying just on the right side of a coherent story.
Tomorrow my answer would no doubt be something else...

Melissa & Travis, at what point does Sandman become the that book that you just can't wait to read the next issue? I got the first one free on the 12 days of Comixology deal (I think) and it was okay but didn't really hook me all that much. I enjoyed it more and more as it went on, but do you think there is a point at which I should read up to to give it its due to really get its hooks in me? For me Sandman didn't really grab me until the second major arc, the Doll's House - from then on I was completely hooked right until the end of the run. Preludes and Nocturnes has a slightly uneven tone (to me as a reader, at least) where Gaiman was still finding his voice and characters. Once he finds his feet it just gets better and better.

Black Hole by Charles Burns. Beautiful artwork. Creepy vibe. Moving story.
And Morrison's Batman run.

The Black Mirror story from Detective Comics is my favorite i think.Snyder's writing is great and love the art by Jock and Francesco Francavilla. And its Dick Grayson as Batman which was awesome. Others are American Vampire, Scalped, Hawkeye, Fables, X-Factor, Secret Six, Locke & Key, Saga and all of the cosmic Marvel stuff.Probably forgetting a lot of other series but whatever.

I've tried All Star Superman twice and couldn't get into it either time. I think I may be defective.

All star superman and sweet tooth are also really really good. All star superman is maybe the best superman story told I love All Star Superman too - a fantastic synthesis of all things Superman. It hasn't managed to oust "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" as my all-time favourite, though, although in many ways they have a similar feel to them. For anyone who doesn't know, it was essentially a euology for the pre-Crisis Superman written by Alan Moore(!) and drawn by Curt Swan(!!) that brought together just about every element of the Superman mythos of the Silver age and allowed it to ride off into the sunset. From the inspiring little summary of Superman's character at the beginning to the wink at the end it can still bring a tear to the eye and it still feels as relevant to continuity at it ever has, since as the text itself points out "This is an imaginary story... aren't they all?"

I've tried All Star Superman twice and couldn't get into it either time. I think I may be defective. That's kind of how I feel with all Superman books. I don't really know why, but I just can't get into it. Even when I hear about a book that is amazing I try to read it and never really get into it. Maybe I'll try All Star Superman.

Glad to see Preacher getting some love. It, along with the highly underrated Scalped are both in my top 10 for sure. I would've put Sandman in my original post but I came to the party super late on that book and only now just got through the initial run. Given time, it'll probably end up in my top 3, but I'm not one for knee jerk reactions. I like to let books sink in a bit. I could say the same thing about Saga too (then again 2 BKV books in my Top 5 probably hinted at that) Get on that Sandman catch up! You'll be glad you did. I have not read the entire Sandman series yet but so far it is the only book that TOTALLY addicts me. It just draws me in and I cannot stop reading and when I'm done I YEARN for the next volume. Amazing stuff!!

All star isn't a regular superman book. But it has the best stuff that defines the character. I'm NOT a big supes guys and I love it.

I am giggling that both readers who couldn't get in to Superman books have Batman avatars. Is this the Ford vs Chevy of the comic book world?
P.S. I have always enjoyed Batman, but could never get interested in Superman.
