Has anyone else had a chance to play this? I'm a huge fan of the series, but I haven't played since The Room. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard about this game.
I can say it did not disappoint. I haven't been that scared by a video game... ever.
I overall love horror, and the terror-thrill that comes with it. The old joke with these games was, the best place to play them was in the middle of the night by yourself, with the lights out, because in the middle of the day with a buddy, it's not that scary. That is true, and says a lot about the games. Unfortunately I did not have the luxury of a late night play through.
I played it this morning by myself with the lights one, and I was still scarred shitless. There were times I felt viscerally ill, and I needed to pop an anti-Anxiety pill when it was over.
So I think they sold me, based on the fact that it's three hours later and I'm still jilted.
Anyone have any spoiler-free thoughts?

I'd love to check it out!

I saw it there on the store and nope nope nope. Scary is not my style. From what everyone has been saying about it, I might die if I tried it. Good luck to you guys. I'll be safe over here.

Love scary games. I'll typically save them for playing in October when I'm in the Halloween spirit.

I'd love to check it out! I searched "P.T." in the Ps4 store. It's a pain in the ass to find, but I just checked again, and it showed up. Seriously, lights on, middle of the day, friends around!

I watched some folks play it online cause I love scary and that's as close as I'm going to get to this game. I stayed up late one night to watch it played out and my husband decided to check on me, so during a particularly tense moment of walking down the hallway for the 15th time, I suddenly heard "hello? are you awake?". Jumped out of my fucking skin. Didn't take long to realize that it was the baby monitor in the living room & my dear Mr wondering if I had fallen asleep on the couch, not the fetus in the sink talking to me. Eek!

I wanted to play this after hearing you guys talk about it on the podcast but I don't think it's available on the PS3.

I have had P.T. installed on my PS4 for a while and was determined to play it once I got my internet sorted in my new house! I love Silent Hill, it is one of my favourite series. But I agree with the general consensus that they began to deteriorate in quality after The Room and the charm has since been lost. I still enjoyed Homecoming but I think that was largely due to the fact is was the first Silent Hill on next generation (at the time) and it just looked amazing - particularly the transition to the Other World (even if it was completely stolen from the movie). Although I played Origins a few times on my PSP, I never got around to finishing it. It didn't feel like a bad game, it just didn't grip me - maybe I should have got the PS2 port instead to try and immerse myself more. Never got around to playing Shattered Memories but I've heard good things. Downpour...excited me initially but lost interest whilst playing. The enemies were uninspiring and I never felt like I knew what I was doing or supposed to be doing. As a huge Metal Gear fan, I was overjoyed to hear Kojima was involved with Silent Hills. Throw Del Toro and Norman Reedus in there and the potential is huge! I have only heard good things about P.T. and somehow I've resisted watching videos or reading any spoilers anywhere (thanks guys!) and after seeing the latest teaser trailer for Silent Hills I don't think I can wait any longer! So my plan is to play it tomorrow night. My brother said he would like to see it too so I'll likely stream it! (I knew I bought the PlayStation Camera for a reason..) If anybody would like to watch...feel free! My PSN is mufcchimp - add me anyway we can play some Destiny Haven't used my Twitch for over a year but I think my account name is TobyChimp

So after playing P.T. on stream, in the dark, on my own, with my headset on...I can confirm it's pretty damn terrifying.
I played Outlast afterwards and it was such a relief to know I was just playing a game again.
P.T. looks amazing. As soon as I started I asked if it could even be considered a video game - it looks like a movie! It did have that older Silent Hill feeling to it at times, in that a lot of the time there wasn't really anything happening but it still got under your skin and made you uncomfortable. I was always on edge that something could happen. It's the fear of the unknown that it nails.
However, I do have my complaints. Well...one really. I found it pretty difficult. Now, I'm hoping that I was just being dumb whilst playing, and perhaps the fact I was under pressure streaming didn't help, but I found it difficult to figure out what to do. They weren't puzzles in the traditional Silent Hill sense, it was more a series of actions you had to take in order to trigger something and progress. It all just seemed a bit too cryptic to me. Again, hopefully I was just being stupid but that was my experience.
Nevertheless, a very scary teaser which gives me hope for Silent Hills. Speaking of, does anybody know whether it will be a remake of the first game? Secondly, is it intended to all be in first person like the P.T.? I think the new viewpoint was definitely effective in making the game scarier - you feel much more like you are the character rather than you are controlling a character. The combat, if there is any, would worry me though. I also have my doubts since Norman Reedus is playing the main character. Presumably he has lended his appearance, doing the motion capture work and the voicework so for the game to then be in first person would seem unlikely to me.
