Saw Guardians for the second time last night and was sitting behind a group of people dicussing Marvel and DC during the entire previews part in a very negative way and it just got me really fed up with this whole "Who is better than who?" talk that is constantly going on. Why is there a need for competition.
I love reading because I suck at sports and hate competition (or I'm just a sore loser). But seriously, these 2 companies are the reason we're all here discussing this stuff. The Justice League and Avengers are the teams we all go for.
Regardless of who's movies are doing better, who's comics are darker or more child friendly. Because of the diversity and difference, it draws MORE people in. All people are different. But its more people reading comics. More kids who grow up watching Batman cartoons and Spider-Man cartoons. More kids with a batmobile bed (I had a batmobile bed. It was awesome. It was a Joel Shumacher batmobile. But it was a batmobile)
I'm tired of people asking me: "Marvel or DC?" Because my gut is to say DC because I am so attached to those characters, but Marvel is the one I'm taking my little brother to see every year for the last 6 years. Because of them, he's reading comics.
So this is a place of peace. This is Switzerland for the Marvel/DC fan. The fence to sit on and talk about what you think both sides do well and why you love them both.
