I picked up Detective Comics #27 (price wise it hurt) and was mixed on the stories inside to be honest. I enjoyed Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch's re-telling of the first Batman story, didn't like Old School which was Gregg Hurwitz and Neal Adams story, maybe it was the mood I read it in but I felt like it was hard to pin point exactly what was going on. Better Days by Peter J. Tomasi and Ian Bertram just a great story of Batman's future even if I wasn't completely sold on Bertram's art. Francesco Francavilla's story felt like it was missing a lot, I wasn't entirely sure what the point of the story was, other than Francavilla's pretty art. The Sacrifice by Mike Barr and Guillem March was possibly my favourite story, but maybe that's because I love those Christmas Carol style stories. John Layman and Jason Fabok's story was interesting and makes me want to read it, when the trade Gothtopia trade comes out I'll be sure to pick it up. Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy's story was a bit off beat, but still a great read, and I really liked Sean Murphy's art which I had never seen before. The pin-ups between the story were great too. I'm loving the Jock one and the one by the Alreds.

I said this before in the other thread but I'll repeat it here. Action comics is one of the best things going right now. Wow. Other standouts for me include letter 44, sex criminals, the ultimate books and D4ve.

Every issue has just gave you a little crumb to chew on to make you yearn for more!! Great shout from @dead_anchorus To quote the man, "grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". And that is all that needs to be said really.

Highlights for me this week: Fatale #19 - excellent end to another good arc Young Avengers #15 - if anything an even better ending to a fantastic series The Movement #8 - *another* good end to *another* good arc! Hopefully digital sales get noticed... Brother Lono #7 - not an ending, but you don't have to see the '7 of 8' on the cover to see that it's almost over.
I also picked up Darwyn Cooke's "Parker - The Hunter" whilst it was on sale at $2.99. I know it's been around for ages, but highly recommended noir/crime for anyone who hasn't read it.

I really enjoyed seeing Guardians of the Galaxy get back to normal. The Infinity tie-ins (and Francavilla's art - though more fault might be on the colors for that) just weren't working for me. I think that was my favorite that actually came out this week. I enjoyed Sex Criminals, but this issue was weaker.
I also picked up Rat Queens after hearing everyone going on about how good it is on the podcast and reading the free preview on Comixology. This was the best thing I've read this week, but I'm picking up Strange Attractors tonight, so....

Other standouts for me include letter 44, sex criminals, the ultimate books and D4ve. Action really was something special. I'm amazed at how much that book has turned around since Morrison's lackluster run on the title at the start of the DC New 52. And yeah, Sex Criminals continues to be absolutely hilarious and engaging. All-New X-Factor had a nice start as well. I'll finally be reading a book featuring Gambit. Who would have thought? Black Widow didn't pack as much of a punch as I expected in its debut issue but I have a feeling things will start heating up real soon. This issue felt like more like a "before the opening credits" series of events than the start to an actual arc. The Movement was solid as always and Sheltered took an approach I wasn't expecting by focusing on characters outside the camp. All around it's been a good week for books. I'm about to dive in to some more titles in a moment. Cheers!

but I'm picking up Strange Attractors tonight, so.... Yeah me too. They way Bobby and Steve talked about it piqued my interest. Honestly though the story and concepts sound like something I would have enjoyed more in my early-mid twenties. I like things simple nowadays.

Sheltered, Sex Criminals, and Black Widow were some of my favorite issues of the past few months. Not just this month.
Black Widow is now on the top of my pull list from now on. I can't believe I liked it so much. The art is FANTASTIC. I think I'm going to pick up D4VE as well. It sounds fun to say the least.

deadanchoress mentioned that All-New X-Factor had a nice start. Does anyone know if it's new reader friendly? I've read the Madrox mini and I really dug it, but never followed up with the rest the series. I'd just rather not have to read an information dump to enjoy.

They mention some of the events that had come to pass in David's previous X-Factor but you'll catch on without a problem. It's an introductory issue, so it's basically a meet the new team, check out the new circumstances sort of book but I have no doubt that things will ramp up real soon. It's totally worth giving a first issue. If you'd like, I could give you my Marvel digital code and you can be your own judge. Private message me and I'll hook you up.

I should be getting enough X-stuff but I'm always down for more. I've never really read an X-Factor stuff. What's the difference between that and X-Men?

I liked All-New X-Factor despite the fact I never read any previous volumes. Very new reader friendly and it will be staying on my pull list.
Sex Criminals like always is a good read, and I like where things are going.
Also Cataclysm: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man was very great, loved the whole scene between Miles and his father....I can't wait on how that is going to play into the new Ultimate Spider-Man book in April.
