Is anyone here into Deadpool? I've never read anything about him, but I'm suddenly interested because of a panel I saw on Tumblr.
Where's a good place to start? There's so much Deadpool out there that I have no idea where I should start.

I hear the Marvel Now! stuff has been pretty good, and Daniel Way did a Deadpool Solo series that I thought was quite good. And Gail Simone has done some Deadpool stuff a while ago.

drocat, if you look on the site, i've done several reviews for issues of the current Deadpool run, and i can say that it's pretty good. my favorite Deadpool stuff right now, however, is the Deadpool Kills series, written by Cullen Bunn. "Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe" is first, is 4 issues long, and is only about a year old. After that came "Deadpool Killustrated" and then the phenomenal "Deadpool Kills Deadpool." I also have a friend who is a Deadpool superfan who loves the Cable and Deadpool stuff from the 90s, but i haven't had a chance to read much of that yet.

I saw the trade of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe at the shop. Maybe I'll pick that up next time I'm in. The page I saw on Tumblr was an interaction between him and Spidey. It made me actually laugh out loud for a second. Is this from Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe?

Yeah I don't read his books either. Are they just for laughs our is there any seriousness there? I LOVE Superior Foes of Spider-Man and its mostly just funny but it has heart and sometimes, like the Owl rat torture scene, things get kinda real. Is Deadpool anything like that?

I just picked up the first one because of the same deal and really liked it. It is not as insane as the other dead pool titles. Kind like a cross between Punisher Max series by ennis and Deadpool

Maybe I'll check it out. Is the newest issue that just came out somewhere that I could jump onto? Maybe I'll just try it. I'll probably check out the 99 cent issues as well.

drocat: i've never seen that spider-man, deadpool, hit-monkey page, but my guess is that it came from one of the hit-monkey issues. There is a trade that i found after a quick comixology search from volume 4 of deadpool called Monkey Business that looks like it will have some hit-monkey stuff in it. i have not personally read any of the hit-monkey issues, but i have a sick curiosity about it. if you end up picking up any of it, i would love to hear what you think. as far as jumping on points go, are you talking about the current series? if so, issue 22 just came out, which is the second in the current arc, where deadpool is going after SHIELD for stiffing him on a payout. i'm behind on it right now, but it sounds fun and has great covers.

grimnperilous: by and large, deadpool plays more for laughs than for heart. That being said, the 5-issue arc between issues 15 and 19, called "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" was a lot more serious than the rest of the series has been. it had a different artist than usual and guest-starred Wolverine and Captain America, and was pretty good. it will read well in trade. but yeah, he's not usually a character who gets to do much in the way of heart. the only other series where i felt like he was a more well-rounded character was in Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force from a couple of years ago. it was a great series, and my favorite portrayal of Deadpool. Remender just understood his voice like i haven't read since.

Thanks man, I'm gonna look into it. I'm really curious about that cause I seriously couldn't stop laughing at those spreads. I'll probably pick up #21 and #22 to see if I like it/can get into it from here. Thanks for the help dude.

In that book he was hilarious and kinda became the moral center of the team for awhile. Remender's ability to take characters I normally don't care about and make them interesting really amazes me. I remember when I saw the full team reveal for Uncanny Avengers with Wonderman, Sunfire and Wasp. I wasn't terribly excited but I was wrong. They're all great and winning me over to Wonderman is no small feat. I've keep hearing about "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" arc. Maybe I'll start there. Thanks again!

I wouldn't personally recommend the Deadpool MAX series, they're interesting, but very weird. I guess they're good for a laugh, and if you can get them VERY cheap they're worth it.
I do think some of the mavel Now! deadpool has been good, the whole zombie presidents business was interesting and there were some good one liners throughout. Out of all of the current run I'd have to agree that "the Good, The Bad & The Ugly" was probably best.
