Anyone else checking this #1 out? It wasn't on my radar before this week, but the previews pages and description have piqued my interest. I've not read Luther Strode or Dead Body Road, but i've heard good things about both. I think i'm gonna pick it up when I go by the shop this evening.

Uggghh, nevermind. Picked it up tonight, but was unimpressed, to say the least. I found neither the art nor the writing to be of good quality (that's being kind), the now-grown infant as narrator struck me as way too derivative of Saga, and it just really, really left me flat. Sadly, I can't recommend it, and I won't be following it past this first issue. Ah well, lesson learned, eh? That's what I get for buying new books on a whim without properly investigating them first. :/

I thought it was ok and has a different overall feeling, I liked the art and I can somewhat agree on the writing. However, I wouldn't discount it just because it uses a story telling technique similar to another comic. Originality is overrated, it's all about who can tell the story the best using the technique. Right now Saga uses this technique the best.

I don't know much about this book, but saw a preview online and I really liked the colors. I picked it up, but haven't read it yet. I read somewhere that it has a Lone Wolf and Cub vibe to it, and I love Lone Wolf and Cub (and Shogun Assassin). I'll read it tonight or tomorrow and then return with my thoughts.

I finished Spread #1 this morning, and have mixed feelings. I liked the art, loved the colors, and enjoyed the writing...but everything about it seemed just too familiar. I don't mind rehashing stories and ideas, but maybe all the ideas used in this book have been used too recently and too frequently. It kinda seemed generic. I even rolled my eyes at the last page when I saw the symbol the person was wearing.
I don't want to spoil any of the story since the book just came out, so I'll leave it at that. If it's a slow week when #2 comes out, I might buy it.
