Is anyone reading Manifest Destiny from Image? It's horrifying, sometimes funny and overall an excellent read. The art is incredible and, honestly, I only picked up the first issue because I liked the cover and I like history. A book about discovery and survival, it scratches an itch I didn't know I had.

I love it. Cool concept, great art, funny story. I do think it would read a little bit better as a trade, but I don't mind re-reading the first few issues before the newest one.
I really can't wait to see where it goes. It seems like a lot of people were obsessed with it for the first issue but now it's kind of fallen off people's radars. Weird.

I loved the first 2 issues, it really captured my imagination. Can't say enough good things about the book. Can't wait to pick up #3 this weekend.

On it over here too. Won't be leaving this unless it seriously dips in form but after reading #3 yesterday (with a hell of a last page), I can't see that happening.
Fantastic concept, great distinct characters, intrigue in the writing, and detailed art.
The monsters have a very Harryhausen kind of horror about them too. The Not-Minotaurs are terrifying, and #3 introduced a new monster that is pretty fresh.

Awesome to hear that #3 is just as good. I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
I agree with the Harryhausen comparison. Super accurate way of describing them. They are a little bit more veiny and scary though.

The art and colors are beautiful. Unfortunately Manifest Destiny, Drumhellar, and Umbral are all going on my trade wait list. There is just too much great stuff to buy each month.
One thing I thought was weird with issue 2 was when writer Chris Dingess referenced Lewis and Clark's participation in marching Native Indians off of a cliff (if I'm remembering right). Does anyone know if this happened in real life?

Nick, I'm not sure if that happened, but I loved that moment. Not because I want the heroes to be evil, but it is cool to see them be haunted by the things that they did. All three issues have moments that baffled me. I'd like to expound upon that, but I'm not sure if spoilers is something you guys want involved in this feed.

Does anyone know if this happened in real life? Not sure about the facts (other than Lewis and Clark did have a few scuffles with Indian tribes) but as far as the fiction goes, they use a lot revelatory scenes to draw us in and revealing that the characters weren't what we first thought is a handy tool in historical fiction. Another example is the diary entry that gets edited in issue #1. I loved that.

Does anyone know if this happened in real life? Yeah I really love Manifest Destiny, but now that I'm three issues in I realize that it would read so much better as a trade. I kind of wish I would have just waited but now I only have 2 or 3 more issues before the trade is released. So I feel like I should just wait until this arc is done.

Issue #1 was very good, not great, but it hooked me in and issue #2 knocked it out of the park! Issue #3 continued the greatness. This is a book I am very excited about and is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Who is everyone's favorite character?
I really like Lewis. I don't really trust Clark but I could be wrong... Maybe it's the other way around.

And I would agree, Lewis is probably my favorite as of right now. I wouldn't even say that a dislike Clark, I think there are some interesting possibilities with his character, but as of now, with so few characters developed, Lewis is definitely the more intriguing of the two.
