Damn we're out...
Oh well, can't be complaining to much, at least we made it to the semi-finals(which was something no one expected)and we held our own against Argentina. Its just a shame that it had to come down to penalty's again. After that miracle against Costa Rica last Saturday it was just too much to ask for us to win another penalty round.
We can always go for third place if we can win against Brasil on Saturday, sure its not as great as becoming champion but i think even if we made to the finals that there would be no chance in hell we could beat Germany, I hope they are going to win the whole thing now.
Now i got to get myself ready for work, which after only two hours of sleep is gonna go GREAT...

Brazil through to the next round on penalty kicks over Chile! Chile hit the crossbar in the waning minutes of regulation, and on the final penalty kick! (I do have a beef with this system. It's as if you decided an NBA play-off game that was tied after a five-minute overtime by having a slam-dunk contest! It seems a rather random way to be eliminated from the tournament!)) It is a bit of a lottery, Mr Bob, but one of the plus points is that both teams have to prove their worth before it gets to that stage. As a life-long fan of football, I'm amazed that professional footballers can miss from 12 yards with a run-up (given enough practice).

Lenny, I've been catching a lot of grief from die-hard football fans over my opinions on the penalty kick shoot-out business--not saying that's anyone around these parts, mind you! They tell me that, and I guess rightly, that you can't expect the teams to keep playing as it's such a strenuous game, and I understand that, but what if you opened up the extra time to an additional limited number of substitutions, and then played an NHL-style "sudden death"--first goal wins. At least that way, the match would be won by actually playing the game they just spent 90 minutes contesting so mightily! Just the thoughts of an aged sports fan, Your Cranky Old Uncle Bob

I was never a fan of the 'Golden Goal' way to end the game, always thought it was such an anti climatic way to end a game. I love watching a penalty shootout, at the end of the day it's using the core essence of football to decide the game. Put the ball in the net from 12 yards.

Germany Blitzkrieged through Brasil! I thought this was going to be the most competitive match haha Nick, I never would have predicted that result, although it did make for a fun afternoon at the pub! I think tomorrow's match will be a nail-biter, though! Sorry for the late response, but yes it was definitely much more competitive. I'm voting for Argentina although I think Germany is hear to win it. And being a german speaker I wouldn't mind that haha So it's a win-win for me:)

Well, Netherlands defeated Brasil 3-0. Is so sad and shows how the team didn't had teamwork at all and was dependent on one player (Neymar).

I wasn't that interested in this match before it started, but it was very nice to see the Netherlands win and to see them leave this tournament with their heads held high, which sadly couldn't be said for Brasil.
Overall the tournament went way better for the Netherlands than a lot of people(including me)would've expected, most of the matches were pretty nerve wrecking, but except for the match against Argentina we managed to get out on top of all of them.
It was also great to talk about the tournament and the matches with some of you people on the forums, i really enjoyed that!
My favourite match was our first match of the tournament against Spain(REVENGE!!!) And my favourite goal also came from that match.
I can watch that all day!

I can't wait to see the final game today and I'm glad that the special Copa America will be held in the USA in 2016....if I'm lucky I could go see a game live. And this tournament has rekindled my interest in following more tournaments so I will be checking when the Euro Cup and such happen and try to follow them.

Anyone want to have a guess at the score of the final? I'm guessing 2-1 to Germany.
