And after a good game, Colombia for the first time in history moves to the Quarter Finals thanks to the great goals of James Rodriguez and the excellent saves from David Ospina.
Now to wait and see who moves tomorrow from The Netherlands vs Mexico game and also see if Costa Rica continues surprising everyone.

YESSSSSS WE DID IT!!!!!
Netherlands beat Mexico: 2-1!
Before this match started i had a bad feeling about it, i thought we would lose this match .And after Mexico scored in the beginning of the second half and we couldn't come back i knew for sure we were out. But then came a powerful cannonball shot from Sneijder in the 88th minute: 1-1. And about two minutes later we got awarded a penalty(which was nice, for a change)and Huntelaar scored: 2-1.
Now we're in the quarterfinals!(and i've got to calm down again...)

Yeah, Mexico dropped the ball after the first goal.....not even Ochoa (who got man of the game award) was able to save the team. That penalty (at least to me) wasn't valid. But anyways, nothing we can do....now to wait until Costa Rica vs Greece and see if the Cinderella story continues with Costa Rica.

France is through to the Quarters with a tidy 2-0 win over a Nigeria side that hung tough until very late in the match!
Germany v. Algeria up next!

After 90+ goal-less minutes, Germany scored 90 seconds into extra time, and after they scored a second with about 2 minutes remaining it seemed settled, but a gallant Algerian squad scored with thirty seconds to play, and even made a run as time expired, but Germany prevailed 2-1!

You're right, after looking back i have to agree that it wasn't valid. Robben let himself fall a little bit too easily...i can't complain about it but i have to agree with you. Next up: Costa Rica.

Soccer karma. The ref missed a clear penalty in the box earlier in the game that most definitely should have been called and a penalty kick granted. - Beau

And both Argentina and Belgium pass to the next round....after both went to extra time! This is really an interesting tournament, all games have gone into extra time more or less. Is time now to see the semi finals and well, I will shave my head if Costa Rica defeats Netherlands lol

I hear a lot of people in the Netherlands saying that we've got nothing to fear from Costa Rica, but its not wise to underestimate them i think, especially after seeing a lot of unexpected things happening in this tournament already.

Netherlands through on penalty kicks over the Cinderella team from Costa Rica, with a risky move by the Dutch manager who changed goalkeepers for the shoot-out, but sub Tim Krul made two saves to win it! They're set to face Argentina in the semis, and with Brazil v. Germany on the other side of the bracket, there's some great football to come!

"D", There were some scary moments for your side coming down the stretch, weren't there? Just when it seemed that Costa Rica was playing to get to the penalty kicks, they seemed to find an extra gear, and added to some missed Dutch opportunities from in-close (RvP had a tough day!), it was starting to look like Cinderella was staying at the ball!
