Since there are presently no threads in this category yet, and I happen to be listening to TC while drinking coffee I thought I'd get the ball rolling here. I just want to take this opportunity give my full endorsement for the Keurig coffee maker. I just got one for Christmas and now it's probably my favorite thing in my apartment. If you're on the fence about getting one, I totally recommend it. You can even brew your own coffee with a reusable cup called My K-Cup. If you want to do that though, just make sure you don't get the B140 brewer, because it doesn't take it (although there is a third-party company that makes compatible K-Cups called Ekobrew). Does anyone else here have a Keurig? What do you think of it? Also, comics. . . are. . . neat. . .

The convenience of a Keurig is what really sold me. Sure the coffee can be expensive, sure they make an unpleasant noise as they brew, sure they create more waste, but damn is it nice to press just a couple of buttons and get a great of coffee (or tea) consistently. I recently bought a box of Donut House Light Roast from Costco...it's good but I think medium roast is more my taste. Any brands/roasts recommendations?

You guys are after my own heart. Love my Keurig machine. It's what fuel comics and coffee (which we will be back on the horse with soon I swear)
I love the Green Mointain blends, especially Dark Magic, French Roast, and Italian Roast. I like my coffee bold as bold can be though!

I like my coffee bold as bold can be though! I like bold after a desert or a sweet breakfast (e.g. french toast, pancakes). I prefer light or medium with my breakfast sandwiches, which is when i drink 98% of my coffee. Green Mountain is good. I have a Green Mountain mug hanging around somewhere. I might update my profile pic with it, you know, to represent.

I got a Keurig for Christmas last year. It was both the greatest and saddest day ever. Greatest because I love coffee and this thing truly is one of the greatest creations ever. Saddest because it showed me how old I am that I was getting excited over getting a friggin coffee maker for Christmas.
I get the giant case of Doughnut House coffee from Costco, its damn good stuff!

I got one for Christmas as well, along with about 200 k-cups. Its one of the best things ever created, ever. A cup of coffee in less than two minutes!

we've had our keurig for a couple of years now and we absolutely love it. i stopped drinking caffeine at about the same time, and it makes the most sense for us since my wife and i are now having different drinks. i'm a big fan of the donut shop decaf, as well as tazo zen tea. Celestial seasonings also makes a pretty good iced tea.

I would consider using one at home with the reuseable filter instead of packaged cups. I'm much too loyal to fresh ground coffee to give that up, but it wold be convenient to brew a quick cup at a time.

I would consider using one at home with the reuseable filter instead of packaged cups. I'm much too loyal to fresh ground coffee to give that up, but it wold be convenient to brew a quick cup at a time. We've had a Keurig now for about 2 years. We(the wife and I) absolutely love it. Despite people talking about the cost, I'm not sure it I really all that much more expensive than if you were buying fairly pricey coffee by the pound. My wife likes the strong, super bold, and what I consider too harsh flavors of coffee. She's definitely not a Folgers girl and as such I would about have a heart attack whenever she'd come home with a pound of some exotic coffee beans that I wouldn't end up drinking and then half a pot would go to waste. The Keurig gives us the flexibility to each have what we enjoy. Not to mention I use a rather larger coffee mug so I can take a bold K-cup and run it through once on the large setting and then immediately run it again on the small setting so that combined I get a delicious big mug of my fav brew. We did get one of the reusable filters, but frankly they are just so much more hassle than they are worth, both to grind the coffee, pack the thing to the rim, and then the cleanup after that. Plus I've found that more often than not some grounds escape into my mug and frankly that just wig's me out. Nothing is worse than sipping coffee and having grounds floating around your mouth. Well ok, actually having a scrambled egg and biting into a bit of shell is also pretty disgusting.... Anyway, I don't think I could recommend a reusable filter. Oh, one more thing about the Keurig - they are great for kids. The K-cups come in hot cider, tea - hot and iced, and especially hot chocolate. It is so nice not having to worry about them burning themselves on the stove with a kettle just to heat hot water for hot chocolate in the winter. With the Keurig, they just turn it on, it heats up, they drop in a K-cup and viola instant Swiss Miss deliciousness! - Beau

Thanks for the info, Beau! I actually use the Keurig at my business, but found the reusable filter more cost effective than buying the cups. I know I'm a coffee snob, I just haven't been happy with the taste of any of the cups I've tried. I much prefer fresh ground beans, which I do every morning for my cup. We use a small 4 cup drip machine at home, because my husband is only home to have coffee with me on weekends. Even so, I would consider a Keurig just to get the right amount of coffee made, as I always seem to have too much or not enough. Sounds like I would appreciate your wife's taste in coffee!

I got it as a gift from my aunt and love it. The variety is great. You can buy a variety pack and then just pick and choose based on whether you need a pick me up or if you just want to sip. I've found as long as I am able to combine coupons with store sales, I can get it down to 50 cents a cup.
I like the Dark Magic kind from Green Mountain
The Swiss Miss hot choc comes in hand for my 13 yr old, too, and tea for the wife. we dont have to make a whole bunch, but can each have our own drink all at the same time.
