First DC animated film of 2014, releasing on February 4, based on the first new 52 Justice League arc Origin. What do we think of the animation? The new voice cast? The choice of this arc? The change to costumes and Aquaman's replacement by Captain Marvel/Shazam?

I think this will be pretty good, animation looks as good as its ever been. The DC animations have been of a high standard since their inception. So yeah no concerns about the quality, I'll just be interested to see the comic bought to 'life'.

I've enjoyed most of DC's animated movies and this looks good. Although not a fan of Batman's custom change here.

DC's animated output, as a rule, is usually of a high standard and judging from the clips, this'll be up there with the best. Pretty stoked to watch this, should be a hoot!

Hmm. While it was entertaining, DC has definitely done better. A major positive is that they used the Young Justice animation style, but aside from some strange alterations to some characters' appearance (I'm lookin' at YOU Batman's ears), it definitely looks better than Flashpoint.
The voice cast I felt was largely forgettable, aside from Wonder Woman whose delivery was quirky and fun but not as commanding as a Susan Eisenberg Wonder Woman. Batman's voice was monotonous, and took me out of the experience. While I loved Justin Kirk on Weeds I felt he was not the right choice for Green Lantern. And Shazam's voice...the less said the better. What I was really disappointed with was how criminally underused Steve Blum was. His voice was altered to the point it was unrecognizable, and his part in the movie was mainly relegated to shouting in pain from being beaten upon.
The movie certainly doesn't disappoint in the action department so if that's what people are looking for when going into this, then all the power to them. Overall, I think this movie just reinforces the fact that these characters don't behave exactly the way they should since the New 52 began. I don't want to spoil, but if Superman's actions in Man of Steel soured your view on the current handling of the character this won't help matters; it was entirely unnecessary.
6.5-7/10

Hey "D",
Thanks for the review!
I was afraid of the tone of this one, considering the darkness of Flashpoint.
The DC animated films were so good, for so long, I'll give them a Mulligan on these last two, and hope for a comeback--which might already be out in stores! Well, one store--Target! They have an exclusive DC animated film called JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time that received a "thumbs up!" from Comics Alliance, and is being described all around as a fun, non-campy, "Super Friends"! Here's a sample:

I was looking forward to War, but replacing Aquaman with CM? Yuck. I'm sure I'll still probably buy it though...
I liked Flashpoint muchly, btw. Didn't mind the darkness.

Flasshe,
I can appreciate that! I know that it's a big favorite among a lot of our other listeners, too!
It was a very well done film, it just became a bit oppressive for me as it played out. (I'll be *spoiler free* as I can!) The scenes of Flash in agony, so many deaths of iconic characters, Wonder Woman's motivation; at the end of the piece, I just didn't feel enough elation to overcome the grimness.

I enjoyed the animation and some of the interaction between certain pairs of characters like Wonder Woman/ Superman, Batman/ Green Lantern, and Cyborg/ Shazaam but the characters never worked as a whole. To me the movie felt like one long fight scene that never ended....

Here's a sample: Bob Bob, I'm really glad you brought up Trapped in Time. Despite being a near silent release and relegated to a Target exclusive to sell their new line of action figures, the movie is really quite good. In fact, I was half tempted to write a review for both of the movies, since ComicsAlliance is the only one I've seen cover JLA:TiT. Hearing Diedrich Bader play Batman once again was great since I was a big fan of Batman: Brave and the Bold and the director/head animator of the film worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender and even employed a few of the voice actors from the series to voice Robin and Karate Kid. I do sincerely hope they treat this like what they've been planning (60 minute JLA movies released every six months) and continue this because as much as I did enjoy War, this is an underrated gem that people need to watch. Travis.

That is awesome but my best bit is when Barry curses towards the end, realising how screwed they are! I had to track back to confirm it really happened, naughty naughty DC!
