Loved the Podcast mash-up everyone. Hearing the varied views on the movie from both Pods was great. Much like Bobby and Brian, I came out of the movie with more positives than negatives but the flaws were out in the open. Similarly shed a few tears too. The wind-turbine kid walking down the alley with Spidey choked me up.
Furthermore, it was hilarious to hear the All-New Troll Bob on The Untouchables, and to hear even more knowledge dropped on us from his love of movies which seemed to - dare I say it - rival his knowledge of comics.
Really hope you guys join forces again some time in the not-too-distant future.

Lenny, Why did you have to get me started again on Brian "Master of Suspense" DePalma; I've just calmed down from Tuesday's recording! What irks me about him is that he's a cinematic magpie, stealing shiny bits from other movies, but never acknowledging that they're not his creation! His constant "homages" to Hitchcock ("Sisters", "Dressed to Kill", "Obsession"), or his "Blow Out" which is a mash-up of Antonioni's "Blow-up" and Coppola's "The Conversation", or the "nod" to the Odessa Steps sequence from "Battleship Potemkin" in the train depot scene in "The Untouchables". (At least Quentin Tarrantino tells you to go watch old Kung Fu flicks and "spaghetti westerns", or when he's borrowed from DePalma, as in "Kill Bill #1"!) The nadir might be his 15-minute opening tracking shot for "Snake Eyes", where he was claiming it was one uninterrupted take, until a reviewer pointed out that there were two splices in it, and then Mr. DePalma recanted saying, "Oh well, there is a cut there"; sad, because it is a great sequence either way, just own up to it, for Pete's sake. You want to see great tracking shots? Check out the opening to Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil", as well as the later interrogation scene at the suspect's apartment, where not only does the camera move, but Mr. Welles had the set constructed so that could move the walls of the apartment around while they were filming so that he could get the angles he wanted!

Thanks for making my LA traffic more entertaining!
Opinions on the foreshadowing and easter eggs in ASM2?

Again, a new job with a long commute is redeemed by you folks yammering away for over two hours. Hurray! Loved the Talking Movies guys. I hadn't listened to their show, but now I've subscribed. It's neat that they've already developed their own culture, which you all were like, "Two minutes? Sure."
I have to say I am AMAZED at the ambivalence around AS2. Yes, fanboi, c'est moi, but ... I found the movie to be a thing of joy, the romance -- for once -- to be interesting, the action beautiful to watch, the humor exactly spot on for Spidey, and even two points in the film where I genuinely choked up. I mean, Aunt May, amiright? Just like Arrow, this film perfectly captured the conventions of comic book superheroes, embraced them.
I was inspired by the movie to go back and start reading through the Gil Kane run of Spidey (which was current when I started on crazy ride), and to me -- more than Ditko, more than Romita -- that IS Spiderman, and that's what the movie gave us.
Thanks, all of you
