First book I read when I get home from DNA Comics. Except for when I know Vaughn and Staples are taking a break. Then I can wait up to 20 minutes after I get home.

So I wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. What did everyone think of Saga #18? I saw some reactions under the books of the week post that "Saga killed it!" so I was super excited to read the book. The action was good. It was definitely the crescendo I was looking for after the last issue. But some of the stuff that happened has me wondering and when I finished the book I put it down and literally said out loud "Meh..." I dont know how spoilers work on the forums here so I will do this to avoid ruining the story for anyone.
***SPOILERS*****
So the first thing I was confused by was The Brand who states that she is The Will's sister at the hospital. When he called out for Sophie and the Brand said "Yes I am here" or something like that then hugged him, that kind of left the question of is she his sister or former lover? When Gwendolyn looked through the binoculars though, she didnt really have the look of jealousy on her face which added to the confusion. The major one that had me rolling my eyes was when Alana got pushed by Marko. She said just before that that her wings were vestigial and wouldnt work but as soon as she was pushed of course they were going to work. I was like oh man. Also, the fact that Prince Robot IV was "damaged" by Heist but one of the main antagonists to Alana and Marko just walks away after the climax of 6 issues to just "go home". I was like COME ON!!! Overall I really enjoyed the issue but maybe it was one of those situations where it was overhyped to me, I dont know. The grandeur of the story I guess makes me yearn for perfection and a jaw dropping issue each month so maybe I have to just enjoy the ride. What do you guys think?

Kiro, I agree with you on the Prince Robot IV stuff. It was rather anti-climactic for him to just crash, re-boot, and go home. BKV needed a way to resolve the conflict with PR IV and the gang in this issue and the route he took seemed like a bit of a cop-out. I do, however, think it since he didn't kill him off that it means there are some big plans for the robot prince ahead. But that was the only real problem I had with this issue. I think the stuff with The Will, The Brand, and Gwendolyn is very intriguing, we will find out more in May. Overall, I thought is was a great issue, but I did have a problem with how PR IV was handled here.

Good policy, Kiro...
***SPOILERS***
I was glad they let PR IV wander off as they've got some exploring to do with this guy. When we thought he was gone I was a little sad as we still have to explore his war-damaged psyche and his new family. Also, as it was only Izabel that could protect Klara, she wouldn't have been able to physically stop either PR IV or Lying Cat, I think.
The art in this issue... jeez. Too good. It almost gets to a point where we're spoilt with Staples' art so we get used to it and its hard to notice a brilliant panel. The panel where PR IV rises up in the background hit the nail on the head as far as atmosphere goes, and the image of Izabel turning in to Lying Cat's mother to play on her greatest fear was sublime.

The grandeur of the story I guess makes me yearn for perfection and a jaw dropping issue each month so maybe I have to just enjoy the ride. What do you guys think? This post is going the be FULL OF SPOILERS It is my opinion that the reason he called the little girl Sophie is because he missed his little sister and saw a lot of her in Sophie (which is why he rescued her in the first place). They may have also had a bad "break up" which caused them to stop talking. His sister might have been confused and thought he was excited to see her in his terrible state, when in reality he was concerned about the little girl's well being. When he heals more there could be some interesting arguing going on between the two of them. I doubt she is a past lover, because they already explored that aspect of The Will's personality. I think that the wing thing is an extension of the idea of Marko not wanting to use his sword anymore. She wants to give up the way she used to be in order to fit in with her family. She's been holding herself back because Marko was doing the same for her. Let's also not forget that she got shot in the wing so she really shouldn't be able to fly anymore, but the love she has for Hazel is strong enough for her to forget about that (just like when Marko used his sword again). I do agree that this was a little bit cheesy, and very obvious... but there was a reason for it I'm sure. Now as far as IV goes-- He's been having a lot of self-reflection in this story arc. I think the "final straw" was when he got knocked out. He now sees life differently and decided to stop fighting so he could go back and take care of his pregnant princess. I'm sure his government won't be happy about it, and this will cause him to potentially become a "good guy" in the later issues, until he "heals" from this short circuit. This is just my two cents and what I got from the issue. I'd be interested to hear how everyone feels about my critique, whether I'm an idiot and completely wrong, or if I'm maybe the slightest bit right.

The Sophie/Brand situation came across to me the same way. Agreed on Alana flying, except I don't think there is a reason besides having the cheesy moment and having Alana flying again. Which I don't have a problem with at all haha Prince Robot IV was interesting, but slightly anti-climactic. I think Vaughan having him change paths was cool, but the way he did it was too convenient and a little bit of a drop. Saga is my favorite ongoing though!

So who's read the latest issue? That last page! I reread volume 3 and then went straight into reading issue 19. That made it pack even more of a punch. The last 2 pages before the final one reminded me just how invested I am in these characters and it was interesting to see them in a different location.

Man i've missed this book A LOT! But its back and its great. I continue to be suprised by the amazing art by Fiona Staples and by the writing of Mr. BKV. Especially that last page, at first i only saw the art and thought: Awww how nice, but then i read the words above and thought: WHAT?Great stuff.
