Okay, this thread was bound to show up at some point. It's time to talk about:
SAGA *ahem*
What do you think of the book? What are some of your favorite moments from the series so far? Who are your favorite characters? Where do you think the story is going? What are your thoughts on the 3 month breaks every six issues?
This should be a good one.

Saga is easily my favourite book right now, two words sum up why I love this book and that's The Will. I think the breaks work right now, because its nice to have a refresher and be able to go back and read the issues before picking it up again but obviously eventually that won't be as feasible to do but right now Saga is definitely something special.

I read the first three issues of it and stopped. I was lucky to read Y the last man and Exmachina all at once. So that's what I've decided to do with saga. Magically I've avoided spoilers so far so this will probably be my Last post in here until like 5 years from now when it's done. But man, I can't wait.

Agreed. I think that the break really helps the book since whenever they come back they always come back stronger and stronger. The Will, and Lying Cat for that matter are both phenomenal characters and probably my favorites, besides maybe Alana. I'm always surprised by this book and every time I read it, it feels like an experience. Like I'm witnessing history.

I did the same with pretty much every Brian K Vaughan book so I completely understand. All I will say is that you'll love it.

Man. There's so much I could say about this series.
I love Prince IV. It's crazy how sympathetic I am for him, even though he's the villain at this point. He has his own thoughts, desires, and passions. This is particularly interesting since a lot of villains in comics are just that; villains.
I really like Alana-- It's always refreshing to see a strong woman role in a comic. She's strong, sassy and yet very motherly.
Izabel is so much fun. The perfect comedic relief. And Lying Cat is just frickin cool. 'Nuff said.
I think my favorite part of the story so far is: [SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS] When IV stumbles into the author's house and you initially are made to assume they aren't there. Then it goes back in time to reveal that they had been there for a good amount of time. So good. {END SPOILER].

Like I'm witnessing history." You couldn't be more right! Who would've guessed that the strangest book would be so charming and perfect. BKV's ideas are so grand and epic, yet intimate at the same time. This is one of the most original pieces of fiction I've ever read. And of course, Fiona Staple's art is just stunning!

Soooooo good. I'll throw my hat in to the ring for Alana as favourite character too.
The gaps in release help with the constant cliffhangers, I think. If this were as regular as most comics perhaps the anticipation wouldn't be as foamy.

One of my favorite series.Love the art by Fiona Staples and BKV is one of favorite writers. Only complaint is that the last couple of issues were kind of slow i think and that it kinda stayed in one place for too long, but the latest issue was great and its starting to pick up again so i will continue to read it.

So do you think we'll ever see Hazel all grown up? Or will it end when she narrates the story up to her Present day?

I picked up the first two trades and started reading it in single issues for this recent arc. Does anyone else feel like the recent issues have kinda felt like a lull compared to the first two trades? Maybe it just feels like that sine I'm having to wait month to month for issues now, but was wondering if anyone else had a somewhat similar feeling?

I read the 1st two trades in one sitting. Its so damn good. I wasn't caught up until issue 15 came out, but man am I glad I did get caught up. Its always one of my most anticipated releases. And I really want a Lying Cat, I'd love to be able to call people out on all their shit.

I did have this feeling, but then I went back and read all the ones that have been out up to now, and I think that this book just reads better as a Trade. After reading them back to back I was way more into it (which I didn't know was even possible). Maybe sit down and read them like you would read the trade? That's all I can say. I might start waiting for the trades for this... but IDK if I even can.

I agree on multiple points here. Having it release once a month and being on Quietus for this whole arc does seem to drag a little bit but the story is told is such a magical way that they get away with that. I also feel like the hiatus that they do definitely gives them time to gather their material to put out the best book possible. Any longer of a hiatus would be detrimental for sure in my opinion.
One question I had for everyone was, what issue do you think has the most iconic cover? I hung up Issue #15 the other day. Thats the one with Alana and Marko in the pose of the novel that Alana read. I felt like that summed up the full story to that point. But I also saw that Issue #14, the cover with Gwendolyn and slave girl on the overlook, was nominated for cover of the year as a reader write in. What do you think? All that way back to the beginning.
