I know I am in the minority when it comes to people on this fourm and most will probably dismiss me as someone who's doesn't know anything about the characters but I love Man of Steel. I watched it again last night because of this announcement. I understand it's not a traditional take on Superman but I thought it was a fantastic realization of how it may truly be if someone from another world were to be discovered walking amoung us.
I am extremely excited for Batman Superman and Justice League and for those who didn't like Man of Steel I can't imagine you'll like those and to be honest I kind of hope you don't because the people who seem to dislike Man of Steel really hate it and so if you were to somehow like the upcoming films that would have to mean they take a huge shift in tone from what Man of Steel was which I hope is not the case.
I have been reading these characters for years and welcomed the new take. I can completely understand why some of you didn't like it however. Unfortunately I think that will be the case for you when the next films by Snyder come out. To bad for you I suppose but great for those of us who loved Man of Steel.
Again I mean no disrespect to anyone opposing opinion that's just my take on it. In truth I hope there's someway that we can all like the upcoming films. That would be the best outcome.

Glad to see someone else in the forums who liked the movie as well! I was afraid I'd be the only one lol. Anyways, I'm pretty excited for the JL movie too. I don't think it's likely to happen, but I hope they use the story from JL Vol 1 New 52. In my opinion, I think that it'd be the perfect story for the movie. The casting announcements have been really solid too. As for Zach Snyder directing JL, I'm obviously fine with that since I liked MOS and some of the other movies he has done too. I mean overall, he's not a bad director and I'm sure he knows how much this means for WB/DC's cinematic universe so he'll most likely be very careful in handling it. There's also a lot of outrage that they're not doing this Marvel's way (Solo films and then a team-up, lighter tone). But I think that's perfectly fine since, well, they're a different company and they should try to differentiate themselves from Marvel right? I have a friend who loves Marvel (But only really watches the movies) and he says he's excited for WB/DC's more darker tone because it's different than Marvel's. I don't know, but as a pure DC fan, I'm just excited for the future. Yes I'm disappointed that it's taking so long (2017 feels like a long ways off) and that pretty much only Superman and Batman have gotten the spotlight but I'm still very optimistic.

Do you also think he'll use the initial arc from JL Vol. 1, New 52? Or do you think he would do best going in a completely different direction (as he did in Man of Steel)? What would you like to see?

That's a tough call. I haven't really thought that far ahead to be honest. I have my worries that the first arc in the new 52 is to much like what happened in the Avengers film with the group coming together to stop an alien force and all and I don't want them to attempt to copy that cause it will just back fire on them.
As as what will work I don't know. I'll leave that in the hands of the film makers but I have thought that the throne of Atlantis story might work if the atagonist was Aquaman himself rather than is brother. It might be a good way to introduce Aquaman and Atlantis. It will showcase his powers as he would take on the league and the dynamic between Atlantis and humans. The film could end with the obvious realization that they are better off standing together as the world starts to face bigger threats.
Just a quick thought but I'll go with it. I like it actually now that I think about it. Lol. Let's go with that.

Also Tomoe I was sorry to see you didn't like Man of Steel I hope batman superman is something we both end up loving. But hey if Warner Bro bombs this whole thing we still have years or great Marvel stuff ahead of us lol My essentially pessimistic and cynical nature is telling me that it will be impossible for me to like the upcoming Batman/Superman movie. However, somehow Guardians of the Galaxy has become a "must see" movie for me and I'm actually excited about a film about Antman. With such a bizarre present, might not the impossible occur in the future?
It would be nice to see Aquaman treated with respect on the big screen. There's a lot they could do with his character, particularly since all the other JL members would have already been introduced in some fashion by the time the JL film comes out, either through the movies or the CW television show. I agree that they probably won't do anything that seems derivative of the Avengers movie, even if the plot actually comes from the first story arc of the New 52 JL (and, yes, I know that Starro and Legion of Doom are out because of tone....curses!).

This was a breath of fresh air to read. I feel the exact same way. The people I know who love Marvel films and comics all feel the same way about DC: They only really love Batman and don't really get the other characters. And its all just taste. I love the Marvel films and comics, but none of the characters grab me like my favourite DC characters do. Also side note, of course I'm excited for Justice League. And I had a thought about what direction I would love it to go in to really seperate itself. Because there's obviously a lot of comparison to the Marvel films with regards to who is "in the lead" so to speak. But I think if DC wants to really change things up, I would absolutely LOVE to see them do the JLA movie with the Crime Syndicate as the villains. Imagine that, the entire cast acting as both the heroes AND the villains. Something that hasn't been done in a superhero film (unless you count that one part of Superman III) and would be a drastic change because if there's one thing all these movies do do the same its the same formula of villain-seeks-powerful-object-to-rule-the-universe and then hero-beats-villain. Obviously I'd be excited to see Darkseid as a villain also because he's one of my favourites, but seeing as Marvel are going the Thanos route, Crime Syndicate would be a cool way to change things up.
