Has anyone read the Warren Ellis team book The Authority from around 2000? It was originally printed under the wild star name but DC has rereleased the first two volumes in hardcover. Talk about ahead of its time, it's really really good. There's some amazing art by quietly and hitch. It really really good stuff.

I actually finished reading volume 4, about an hour ago. I thought it was really enjoyable. I have to say that I liked Ellis's writing better than Mark Millar who takes over half way through volume 2, and sometime Quitely's art looked a little busy in the faces. But it is a good read.

I read the first Volume not too long ago and thought it was super interesting. Each character really had his/her own voice, and some of the power sets were really unique, especially Jack Hawksmoor. I actually read the first volume of the New 52 Stormwatch not too long before reading The Authority, and it was really neat to see how those characters were originally portrayed. Wildstorm had a pretty neat shared universe going for a while.

It's been a while but that was a fantastic series, a lot of originality. The century baby plot thread was a particular favorite, and I always loved Hawksmoors power-set and aesthetic. Did you guys ever read Planetary? Another fantastic run from Warren Ellis.
