I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in a forum board just for discussion of collecting comics. For example, I'm currently putting together an Afterlife with Archie collection, a pre-Unity Valiant (90's Valiant) collection, a Death of Superman/Funeral for Friend collection, and a Knightfall collection. I'd love to hear what every here obsesses about.

Basically anything Star Wars related is an easy buy for me, same for Marvel. Comic wise most of what I collect is prints with a focus on X-Men or certain Avengers, Star Wars wise I have a Boba Fett, Stormtrooper and Clone Trooper helmet, some 1/6 Sideshow figures, Vader FX Lightsaber and a bunch of other small goods as well as an abundance of Star Wars art.

I'm trying to be a little more financially responsible these days but other that comics I pick up a lot of random Batman stuff. Some of its is cheap like when ever I see a Batman related hot wheel. ( just picked up a tumbler ) and some it's stupid expensive like my Sideshow premium format figure. I also pick up other random comic related memorabilia when I come across it. I don't live near a comic shop or anything like that and I don't shop on line much so that's a good thing.

One of the best parts of collecting, is finding a piece you've been wanting for an incredibly low price. Today, I found a copy of Magnus robot fighter number 12, from the 90s, which is the first appearance of Turok the dinosaur hunter. I remember coveting this issue so much back when I was a kid in the 1990s. The cover image is seared in my brain from staring at it so much and all those old issues of Wizard Magazine. I couldn't believe it when I found it today in a $.50 bin. And the condition is near mint to boot. I think I resolved some part of my childhood today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was always a big Turok fan. Have even reading his new series?

The new Turok series...well, what's keeping me from buying the new Turok and the new Magnus series are all the horrible covers. I can't stand the covers for the those books so far. Especially those god awful Liefeld covers. When i look at a current Valiant cover -- variant or not -- I'm always impressed. When I look at the Dynamite covers, I'm nowhere near being impressed.
Turok is also not one of my favorite characters. Solar Man of the Atom is though, and I did pick up the new #1 from Dynamite (one of the Bob Layton covers) and thought it was good. I don't think i'll be buying any more, but it was good. If I can find the new Turok and Magnus for half off cover, I'll buy them then.
Have you read the new Turok? Is it a good read?

I am having a really fun time currently collecting back Amazing Spider-man issues. Its fun to hunt for cheap issues and to fill in such a long and epic run. I always said that this would be a life goal of mine even if I never complete it. Just think of how much #1 will be worth 30 years from now! But still I am really loving the hunt.
The other mini collection/project that I recently started was 3.75 inch Star Wars figures. I have the 6 inch Black Series figures in boxes on the top of my desk and figured it would be cool to have some loose random 3.75 inch figures standing in front of them in hopes of maybe filling a smaller curio cabinet some day (Nabrun Leids FTW!). Again, the hunt is great. I picked up 6 at a toy show for $2 each recently and have plans of hitting some larger flea markets to get some cheap figures. Again, the hunt is great!

BE careful with those 6in. and 3.75 in collecting... It's addicting as hell!

i have a real problem with physical copies of comics--single issues. i'll buy just about anything that looks good and i never want to get rid of any of it, even if i hated the issue. it's becoming a problem. i've gotten a little better since i've gotten my ipad about buying only digital copies of certain books, but if i end up really liking something, i always go back for the physical copy.
i've also gotten a little out of hand lately with Green Lantern merch. i want pretty much anything with the lantern symbol or Hal on it.
i used to also be really bad about buying DVD's, but fortunately, netflix and hulu have helped this problem quite a bit.

Kotobukiya figures/statues. Got the Star Wars Bounty Hunters after a few years of sniping Japanese auction sites. Probably got the whole set for less than half of retail. Currently working on the DC Ones, and soon Marvel. I would like to collect some of the new Valiant single issues, but it's a hard thing to do in Japan.
The past month I've been "collecting" Hearthstone cards... damn addicting game.

Although I find myself always collecting a line of stuff, I have some self control and only get what is easily obtainable for me (you will never find me on eBay paying more than twice the price for something.) With that in mind right now the stuff I'm collecting are: New 52 Line of Figures, S.H.Figuarts (whether is Super Sentai, Kamen Rider or Sailor Moon figures) and also some Funko POP (I want the whole Guardians of the Galaxy set).
And comic book issues wise I been getting the Skottie Young variants for books that I read.
