#24 should have been a contender in the top single issue of 2013 category. I fully agree! Yeah Batman really should have got more love on the podcast. No surprise that it won out with listeners. Sometimes it seems like the obvious one get skipped or forgotten. How Death of the Family wasn't up for best arc is beyond me. Zero year I could see waiting till next year but it hasn't quite grabbed me like the owls of DOTF.

I think Zero Year is so much better than DOTF. Art and story.

I think Zero Year is so much better than DOTF. Art and story. I think folks on the podcast and elsewhere on the forum mentioned this, but Greg Capullo's art, which was great to start with, has continued to improve and impress. I've listened to interviews with him on other podcasts, and its interesting how, at least for me, if I met him or heard him speak I would not peg him to be an artist. Just goes to show I shouldn't make quick assumptions. Also, I really enjoyed Detective Comics #27, and seeing Francesco Francavilla's short story has inspired me to reread The Black Mirror, which is still one of my favorite Batman stories ever.

I picked up Detective #27 today. Unfortunately I could only get the creepy catwoman cover. I'm looking forward to these stories, I've heard good things. Will any of them be continuing in the upcoming issues?

Will any of them be continuing in the upcoming issues? I think on the podcast they discussed that the "Gothtopia" storyline from John Layman will continue for the next 2-3 issues before Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul take over.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a batman book with some more vibrant colours in it and it looks like Manapul is going to deliver.

It does seem there's hope for a more consistent quality across the Batman titles now, one thing which had sadly lacked (although I've bought every issue of all the titles!) so far.
One other thing I hope is that Scott Snyder stays on Batman for a long time to come. That man can do no wrong in my eyes, no matter what he writes.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I have to say that Death of the Family is in my top five favorite Batman stories ever, up there with Year one, DKR, Hush, and Killing Joke. The art was on a level that I couldn't believe was possibly, but aside from that, the book touched on my favorite aspect of Batman. I love seeing batman's relationship with the Bat Family. The tie ins to this one really bring out the fact that they are closer than a family because they have to be. Red Hood and the Outlaws actually made me cry a little, because the scene between Jason and Bruce was so good. Major props to all writers involved in that story. Zero year is fine, but it just so far hasn't lived up to the Death of the Family Masterpiece.
