This was just announced a short while ago, www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=52079 . I'm not sure how I feel about this yet and how they plan to intergrate it into the Amazon company. I'm really hoping it's just a name change in owner, not policies. How do you guys feel about this?

I'm a little worried, since I've spent so much there and don't want to lose any of my books (or have the Kindle suddenly be supported better than the iPad or something like that). But I don't really think that will be an issue. I can't help thinking that there will be some changes I won't like, but we'll just have to wait and see. Although, who knows, it could also make things better. So, yeah, I'm like you... not sure show I feel about it yet... It will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

I'm wondering, if Amazon is adopting the guided view format that comixology uses, will I be able to redownload books I've already purchased from amazon in the guided view format. Amazon's reading format sucks but every know and then they have good deals.

I hope Amazon Prime will now extend to Comixology for some good deals, or possibly something similar to Marvel Unlimited.

I have books at amazon (thank you for 3.99 trade sales) and books at comixology. I'm hopeful that amazon will be able to use Comixology's guided view format, and comixology can lower it's prices a bit. Trades are on average cheaper through amazon. My biggest concern is... I don't want to lose my stuff. I don't think that will happen, and I'm just hoping that both entities can take their best features and put them forward.

WOW! They cancelled the number one App for in-app purchases for all of i tunes. I hope amazon wrote one big ass check because they are going to immediately see a major drops in sales. But they did credit my account for $5. Comixology screwed me and gave me five bucks, I feel like a cheap whore.

All the explanations I've found involve them making this move to cut out the middle man, Itunes, from getting a cut of their profits anymore.

Not a big surprise, just didn't expect it to happen so soon. Thought I didn't have a chance to spend my iTunes gift cards on comics. Then I discovered that the individual publisher iOS apps (DC, Marvel, Image, etc) still allow in-app purchases for now. Whew! Was able to use up my cards.

Was able to use up my cards. Good to hear that you can still spend your gift cards on the other apps, i was freaking out when i saw that i can't buy something with the new app cause i also just got a couple of gift cards that i wanted to spend mostly on comics. Now i'm just going to spend them on the Marvel, DC and Image apps, I only hope they are going to allow in-app purchases on those apps for a while.
Needless to say i'm not happy about this change, but i understand why they are doing it.

Just be aware that the publisher apps could change at any time. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't plugged this hole already, seeing how easy it was for them to disable purchases in the old main Comixology app without even pushing an update. Although, who knows, maybe the agreements the publishers have with Apple is different and they will continue to allow it. Would love to know the business behind all this. It looks like this decision was made by Comixology/Amazon (as CaptainSuperior says, to cut out the middle man), though I would've thought it would be Apple pushing to remove the in-app purchases like they did for the Kindle app etc.

The new Comixology app is already boasting a healthy 1 star review rating with almost 500 reviews in less than 24 hours, this could get interesting.

It actually isn't a huge deal to me personally, I don't mind using the website, it just worries me thinking of all the customers they're going to lose. If apple has taught us anything it's that people love things to be quick and simple. When you finish reading a book and the next issue pops up with the option to buy with just a tap, your more likely to purchase it. Now people have to exit the app, go on line, select the book, check out, confirm payment, go back to the app, and then download. Apple may have taken a 30% cut but the revenue they brought it had to outweigh the cost. iOS users feel alienated and how this will affect comixology in the long run is what concerns me the most.

This change isn't really going to me affect me at all since I discovered that buying comics from the App you get charged extra I did only on-site purchases. I just simply saved the site on Safari and sent it to my home screen....it would take seconds to switch from one to the other. Also I have subscriptions for some series, so I don't really need to buy them.
