Without spoiling it what did you not like about it

I felt like everything that happened could have happened in three pages and the rest was filler. And the art didn't hit me right this time, either. It looked amateurish to me. There was one scene where I couldn't even tell what happened. Maybe it's me? Am I the only one that liked issue 1 and didn't like issue 2?

While I generally liked it I also felt the art was a bit off, but then again I felt that way about issue #1 too. It gets too muddy for me. I prefer a more clean style. However, I'll be sticking with the book for awhile as I really hope an Iron Fist book does well.

#4 - If things don't pick up by issue #6 there is a strong possibility that this book will be removed from my pull list. Yet another issue with 2/3(more?) of the book devoted to flashback scenes through dream sequences interspersed with with 'sexy time' scenes where IMO very little was accomplished except to learn that The Iron Fist is apparently a good lover. <insert eye roll>
Thoughts?

I've had a completely different experince with this book. The story goes back to the early roots of Danny Rand instead of the total goof ball we saw in recent years. I think showing the dark past of Danny finally makes him a richer character and gives you a view of what is hiding behind the smile of the "jokester" Danny Rand. Kaare has also taken this volume of Iron Fist and given it a vibe that pays homage to the old kung-fu movies which inspired the creation of Iron Fist.

Yeah, I've been wanting a kung-fu comic like this for so long after reading the Brubaker/Fraction/Swierczynski run and there hasn't been anything that really nails the kung-fu movie vibe. Danny Rand has pretty much become a Tony Stark/Deadpool side character where he was only really good for his money and quipping. As dark and miserable as this book is, its really the only Iron Fist story to actually deal with his origin. Seeing your father killed by your best friend and then watching your mother being eaten alive by wolves, then spending 10 years of your life training to be a weapon wouldn't exactly make you a fun loving care-free Young Avenger. Thats a more brutal origin than Batman. I also want to keep buying this book too because the same thing happened with the original series where everyone lost their minds that an Iron Fist book was coming out, but then didn't buy it. And now of course everyone hails it as a masterpiece, but that didn't stop it from being cancelled. Drop an X book or an Avengers book and pick this up. At the very least its doing something different. And you have to hand it to Kaare Andrews. Am I wrong to say he is the only person in comics at the moment to be handling 90% of the book? Credit where credit is due. I don't care if he has a rep for being late, he earns his lateness.

I'm interested in this character. Any recommendations for where to start? I think I would like to start with more modern stuff...

More and more I get the feeling from certain books that the intent is to outdo a previous writer, artist or combination on a particular property. The oneupmanship is really starting to get annoying. Lets all go back to the shorter stories on newsprint from the late 70's and 80's thats when comics were comics and seldom an attempt to be anything more.

I just read #5 and I'm digging the vibe of this book. The whole thing has a Dark Knight Returns through a Manga-eye thing going on. One of the more intriguing Marvel NOW ongoings.
