Name: Nate Where I'm From: Bronx New York
How I Got Into Comics: I got into comics when I was 13 yrs old. I collect mostly Marvel X-men titles. I had hundred before I went away to school. When I got back home my brother sold a big chunk of my collection, Thank to my grand father he knew how much I loved my comics and grab what was left and stored them for me. It really hurt me that my brother did that but what can you do. I got back into comics about 2 years ago but mostly Star Wars. I have branched out now and start collecting DC Comics. That is what lead me to your Podcast which I am Loving. What I'm Reading: Star wars, Batman, Batgirl, Batwoman, Justice League, JLA, JLA Dark, Nightwing, Superman,Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc. Mostly The New 52 Comics I am really enjoying the Forever Evil Story Arc

Hello Troops! I just dropped by to say thanks to everyone who's already participating in the Talking Comics Forum, and to make with the introductions: Name: Bob Reyer Where I'm from: Some say I'm so far out of the loop that it's the Blue Area of the Moon, but in fact it's a town called Huntington, in Long Island, NY. How I got started with comics: I wrote a piece about it ( talkingcomicbooks.com/2013/09/12/the-secret-origin-of-a-comic-book-fan/ ), but my first DC comic was Showcase # 37 starring the Metal Men, and my first Marvel was Fantastic Four #5, which features the debut of Doctor Doom! What I'm reading: Captain Marvel, The Movement, Batgirl, Fantastic Four, FF, Pretty Deadly, Red Sonja, Triple Helix, New Avengers, Doc Savage, 1940s Miss Fury strips--too much stuff, frankly! Most prized "geek possession": I'm lucky enough to own a copy of the original Fantastic Four #1 that I managed to have both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby sign for me! When I figure out some of this new-fangled technology, you may see a thread with my by-line. rrr -30-

Hey "D"!
I'm sure that I'm breaking a rule by responding here, but I guess I'm a rebel!
Let me say that I'm glad you enjoyed Rocket Girl! Trust me on this, too--the next two issues are just as good, if not better!

"grim",
Thanks for the welcome. and it's starting to look like I should hit Image up for a commission on the sales of Rocket Girl!
For me, it's another of those books that gives the industry balance, so I'm quite pleased that you guys are loving it, too!

Just signed up so I thought this was the best place to start:
Name: John Where I'm From: Tucson, AZ (but NJ originally) How I Got Into Comics: I read a lot in my younger years since I grew up on the X-Men cartoon, but then once I hit high school I kind of gave up on them. I started back up in college but they never really stuck until the DC New 52 relaunch. I've been reading every week since. What I'm Reading: Saga, Batman, Batgirl, Batwoman, Superman/Wonder Woman, Earth 2, Hawkguy, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, Rat Queens (!!), Pretty Deadly, Action Comics, and Harley Quinn Prized Geek Possession: Either my replica Freddy Krueger glove signed by Robert Englund or my Batman Black & White statue designed and signed by Mike Allred
When it was mentioned on the podcast recently that this was the place to go for anyone looking to discuss comics but who didn't have friends that were into it, I knew I had to join.

Hi everyone. I've been listening to the podcast for about a year and it actually makes me look forward to my long commute. And the podcast is helping give my daughter a proper nerd upbringing. Thanks for creating this great space for discussion.
Name: Will Where I'm From: Durham, North Carolina How I Got Into Comics: I basically learned to read with Calvin & Hobbes comics, but I really got into comics when a friend in college gave me a copy of Dennis O'Neil and Neil Adams' Green Lantern/Green Arrow Vol. 1 and it has been a slow descent ever since. What I'm Reading: More than my budget can handle! Favorites include Trillium, The Wake, Revival, Fatale, Batman, The Movement (thanks Bob!), Black Science, The Massive, among many others. Prized Geek Possession: I still have a model of the original USS Enterprise that my dad and I built together with I was 8 or so.
Thanks again for all the great content and look forward to participating in the forums.

Sorry I'm late, but this stuff is very new to me!
Let me extend the biggest Talking Comics "Welcome!" to Colin and Will! You're sure to have a great time here, and for everyone posting here, we do hope that you'll all still comment on articles that are up on the site! Those comments create their own little communities, too!
Colin, I just picked up the first Velvet, which I really loved, but now I'm behind so I'll probably wait for the trade!
Will, The Movement #8 was phenomenal; a fine wrap-up to some of the threads in the first arc, while laying out some new ones for the next!
And to Mr. Fett, Fantastic Four #51 ("This Man, This Monster") is still at the top of my list of favorite issues ever! That's a great book to own, but even more to read!! Congratulations!

Glad to see you posting here.

Hey everybody! I've been listening to the podcast for quite a while now, and I've got to say, it was a great move setting up some forums.
Name: Ryan (Of the Talking Comics Book Club, if anybody's watched!)
Where I'm from: Rockville, Maryland. Spatially, it's like to DC as Long Island is to NYC.
How I got into comics: Being a lifelong love for Spider-Man, followed by a mail subscription to Amazing Spider-Man (which itself was incited by the sight of an awesome John Romita Jr. cover to a Dan Slott-written story arc), followed by a visit to an actual comic book store.
What I'm Currently Reading: A metric ton of stuff, but my favorites would have to be Avengers, New Avengers, Batman, Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye, Hawkeye, and East of West. I've also been tearing through the trades of Chew and Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol quite voraciously.
Prized Geek Possession: That's a hard one. If I had to pick I'd say it's either my copy of Fear Itself #1 signed by Matt Fraction or the Amazing Spider-Man #570 (the "gateway comic" that I mentioned above) that Dan Slott and John Romita Jr. signed. Fear Itself was a hit-or-miss series for me, but the circumstances of how I got it signed, not to mention the funny "annotations" that Fraction made to the cover, were just so great that it's one of my favorites. A very close runner-up is a sketch that Andy Lanning (co-writer of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy series that inspired the film) did of Groot and Rocket Raccoon whilst chatting with me.
