I have a question I have wanted to pose to others for a while and keep meaning to write in to the podcast but never do. It might be better here anyway.
Does anyone else get extremely annoyed with the constant artist shuffles at marvel? I real like consistency in art and to be honest as it's comics the artist almost matters to me more than the writer. I really have disliked how marvel seems to shuffles artist so much at least on the marvel now series I was trying. It seems DC has more artist stick on a book long term. Maybe it's just the books I was reading but just wondering on others thoughts.

For me it's a give and take. The rotating allows us to get the books we enjoy faster. I'd rather have bi weekly issues of superior than one per month if it was drawn only by stegman. That's just me though. I can totally understand why it turn some people off.

It's not really a big deal for me if the change in artist isn't too drastic. When it changes styles completely it really kills it for me.
It's not done by marvel but; Ten Grand from Image originally had Ben Templesmith and they had to change to CP Smith.. It went from a true horror style to a really cartoony fantasy style, and kind of killed the series for me.
When Marvel has to change artist it doesn't always seem to be too drastic. Uncanny X-Men has a lot of artist changes, but it doesn't seem to bother me. I don't even really notice to be honest.
Like Joroak said, if the rotation can get the books out on time or fast then I really don't mind. It can change the integrity of the series though... very easily.

I agree. It also depends on the artist as well. When Bachalo switches off with Uncanny it's definitely a jarring shift but it's one I've learned to appreciate over time. Same with most books. It's only if it kills the vibe of the book (like Ten Grand) when it starts to bother me.

Again it depends. I'm not a fan if the vibe is disrupted (as Travis said) but I'm not a fan of the Avengers A.I. regular artist, so whenever they change it up it's wonderful hehe
I think as a rule it would be better to keep a team. Throws people off. I have a stack of Green Arrow to get through from #12 onwards but it's so hard to get a handle on the vibe with the amount of team changes that book went through. I hear the new team is excellent.

IMO, an artist change when a new story arc starts is fine. It can be jarring when a new artist picks up in the middle of the story, although for me it is more affecting when I'm reading a trade rather than single issues. Sometimes I do get bummed out when artists that I loved get taken off books that I love, like Olivier Copiel and X-men...

This is such a tough one, and one that comics publishers have been struggling with since the end of the bullpen days. For years there seemed to be a desire to stick with the same artist and experience delays, which fans tired of. Now the Marvel Way seems to be to expect no more than 3-4 issues in a row from a given artist, but keeping consistency throughout with the same writer. In some cases this works better than other - Humberto Ramos and Ryan Stegman balanced pretty well on Superior Spider-Man - Sara Pachelli and Francovilla on Guardians of the Galaxy? Not so much.

Yeah whenever they announce new creative teams I always see it as an announcement for the new writer and the person that is drawing the first arc.

I agree with this in general, but when they brought Frazer Irving into Uncanny for that one issue, it was too much of a change. On the other hand, something like Inhuman #1, I didn't even notice that there were multiple artists on it until it was pointed out to me (I think on the TC podcast). But when there's a fill-in that's obviously less talented/experienced or has a clashing style within the same issue (like in the Batman Inc issue where Damian was killed, for example) - that's what really drives me bonkers.

I'm ok with the switches cause Marvel is typically pretty smart about it. To articbeast if you haven't already checked it out I would recommend Thor God of Thunder 1-11. Not only does it kick insane amounts of butt, but Esad Ribic drew 10 of the 11 issues and the fill in from Butch Guice came at a logical point.

Like some of you said, as long as is not a drastic change I don't really mind.....like Marquez originally cover for Pichelli over UCS before taking over was barely noticeable for me. But when is something like Bachalo/Irving over Uncanny X-Men, is kinda annoying for me....although the story can help me to make it less annoying.

I personally would rather have more consistency in their books like DC has, but I don't want to outright say that the art shifts hurt their books. If they weren't double shipping so many titles and cut back on the Avengers and X-men titles, I think their would be more consistency.

On the plus side, they are employing a lot of artist, so more people are getting to work!
