Can we dust off Steve's Jukebox? deadanchoress I did the bi-annual music collection sorting the other week and came across a few bands you and others might dig - although it is very possible you have already dug - so I thought to share. Om - Unitive Knowledge Of The Godhead
The rhythm section from Sleep get hypnotic. This track is cut from their EP that Steve Albini produced and is best appreciated with some head-hugging headphones. Jason Isbell - ElephantOne of the best songs I've heard in many a year. Ex- Drive By Truckers member. Annie Dressner - FlyHailing from New York but living here in Cambridge, I've had the privilege of catching her set a scary amount of times and she really is a fantastic talent. The album Strangers That Knew Each Other's Names is all killer, no filler.

I've actually got a boat load of music to share with y'all! Thanks for thinking of me, man. I'll take a listen to these videos when I return home from the comic shop this afternoon. Cheers!

I'd never heard the dude or the Drive-By Truckers but then Jason Isbell was interviewed on WTF with Marc Maron and played Elephant at the end. I haven't been that moved by a song in a while. Totally blindsided me and now it's a once-a-day track for the time being.
Glad you like it, man.

I regret to divulge that I'm not digging very much on either the Jason Isabell or the Annie Dressner tracks. The music for both is rather nice, but I can't seem to get comfortable with either of their vocal stylings. I appreciate you sharing them with me though. Here's a few things that I've been listening to obsessively within the past few weeks: Shellac - "Dude Incredible" Paws - "Someone New" Esben And The Witch - "No Dog"

deadanchoress Swing and a miss from Lenny. Not to worry, sir. I guess the singer/songwriter with an American accent is a novelty on these shores but must be a dime a dozen over there. Similarly, if I hear another upper-class English songwriter affecting a cockney accent I'll scream. Thanks for the tracks. I can't get enough of Shellac and haven't had a chance to absorb the new album. Judging by that track there are good times ahead. I like that the Paws sound is very much in the production. I can imagine that sounding incredible live. I'll be seeking more. I'm familiar with Esben and The Witch but that track is stunning and new to me. I look forward to the next instalment.

Lenny, the new Shellac is hard rockin for sure, but that Esben and the Witch album might be my album of the year so far. It's a step up for them in a MAJOR way. I highly recommend tracking it down, cranking the headphones, and just letting go.

I've been listening to it for weeks now and my love for it just keeps growing stronger. There's such atmosphere and mood to this new album. "The Jungle" is definitely one of the more epic tracks on the album. It warms my heart to know that you've singled that one out. Rock n roll, man!

Hey everybody, I'm still neck deep in writing assignments for the week (might have landed myself a new gig as a game reviewer), but here's some tunes to get you through your weekend. Enjoy!
PALMS - "Future Warrior" - a new band featuring Chino Moreno of the Deftones with members of the band Isis.
CARIBOU - "Our Love"
YEAR OF THE RABBIT - "River"

Awesome 'Steve's Jukebox' posse shout-out on the Podcast this week. I'll be sure to check out the 'Sing No Evil' recommendation. Sounds like a great book.
Inspired by the Caribou track from last week here are a couple of Electronica acts that have bedded down in scratchy corners of my being that you may enjoy.
Nedry - TMA
Purity Ring - Crawlersout

How this never got on the Billboard Top 20 I'll never know.

Cosby and the man himself, Quincy Jones. A fine piece of funk. Not sure how much involvement Cosby had in the making of said funk though.
