Hello,
I'm looking for either a comic or a Movie/Television Show that is incredibly dark. Something along the lines of Breaking Bad, Spawn, Walking Dead, or Sandman. I want something that goes as dark and ugly and bleak as possible, that will leave me with an utter abysmal feeling when I finish it? I'm just on a kick where I want to watch or read dark things. And to clarify here, Dark, not gory.

Joe Hill's The Cape. If you're not familiar with it, its a pretty simple 4 or 5 issue story about a guy who has a cape and can fly, but wait till you see what happens. It doesn't get much darker than this comic in my opinion.

Fishtown by Kevin Colden. This book is sick, twisted, and as dark as they come.

I would second a recommendation for Joe Hill's The Cape, even though I didn't particularly dig it myself. But the reason I didn't enjoy it was because it was so dark. Also, Bedlam is pretty dark from the few issues I read of it. Gives off a very strong Joker vibe from the main villain.
Also, if you haven't watched the TV show The Killing, there are episodes of that that are incredibly dark. It's got some gruesome images since it is about investigating murders, but there's a lot of dourness in the show, especially the third season. It's all available on Netflix.

I'd highly recommend a British TV series called Utopia. It's about a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel. The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century, and it's based round that. I won't say anymore, bt it is very very bleak.

Yes! I was about to recommend Utopia too! Interestingly HBO is about to remake it with David Fincher directing.

I'm looking forward to series 2. Not sure about a remake though, I know HBO have a good track record but there just no need to remake it.

I second this. Also check out Bedlam. Second trade just came out last week. For movies I would recommend The Mist and The Descent. They are occasionally gory but they don't focus on it and you will definitely get that abysmal feeling. Or on the complete other spectrum, Boy A is great. It stars Andrew Garfield and is pretty freaking bleak. Also if you do end up watching The Descent, don't watch The Descent 2.
