so this is one of the titles on the list of "33 books that will end in one form or another after Secret Wars" Honestly, in this particular case, with the most recent two-part mini-arc with Ellis really falling flat for me (after i'd been loving the arc leading up to that), and Black Vortex now elbowing its way into the series (ugh), this isn't much of a surprise, nor is it particularly unwelcome. It seems very rough treatment to reboot the series YET AGAIN, so soon, and it's certainly true that Carol just can't catch a break in terms of flow and continuity and inertia, but as mentioned in the article i'm sure she'll continue to have a book, whatever it may end up being called (Superior Captain Marvel?), and Kelly Sue will probably still be writing it, but this seems as good a time as any to make the transition from singles to trades (or to dropping it altogether) for me in regards to this book. So . . thanks, Marvel? Sorta? For being total dicks and not letting this writer/character/title get any real momentum going ever for more than a few months at a time? Which has been really frustrating, but whatever, you're saving me money by treating one of my favorite characters so shabbily, and making it easy for me to drop it? :/ #FuuuuuuuuuuuuuckEvents #BagOfDicks www.themarysue.com/marvel-ending-captain-marvel-comic/The Carol Corps book looks intriguing at least...

The Carol Corps book looks intriguing at least... Yeah i saw the preview for that and, sadly, that premise doesn't appeal to me much; that aspect/arc of the first chunk of Kelly Sue's first volume interested me very little. I like Carol in space, and I like Carol in New York with Kit and Jess and her assistant and the Avengers and all that; Carol hanging out with an old WWII era squadron does nothing for me. To each their own, always, but despite my substantial affection for Carol and for Kelly Sue, i'm not particularly looking forward to what seems to be happening to her during Secret Wars.

Issue 13 was as average as an issue can get, I'm so sad about that. It was beautiful though. But Idk, I love Kelly sue, but this book is getting more boring with time. It seems to focus on those now cliche cute moments that people lately go gaga over. And it feels like it just wrapped up so fast and convenient just to get ready for black vortex. I'm lamenting right now, one of my favorite books is becoming a middle of the road book. I'm missing the direction of the last volume more and more. I re read it this weekend, then read all of this volume today. And it's a big shift in quality in my opinion. I really hope that after secret wars, Kelly sue can bring this book back to top of the stack quality.

For me there are several aspects that I don't care for: 1) CM in space--I'm just not a fan of the cosmic, 2) David Lopez--just never cared for his style, 3) Carol away from supporting cast, 4) the sense that they've never effectively followed up on the Enemy Within finale. I am, however, quite excited for Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps. I did enjoy the In Pursuit of Flight story and am looking forward to seeing these characters again.

I really enjoy the David Lopez art. A lot.
I'm not sure the writing has been underwhelming, either. I've been enjoying it. Particularly #10.

I'm curious about a plot point involving Carol's amnesia. Was the story resolved at the end of the last run by Kelly Sue or has it just been ignored in the new volume?

If it is just being ignored, then I really have to think that Kelly Sue is just phoning this volume in. It really has been lack luster in comparison to the first volume. I would imagine Kelly is ready to be done with Marvel and stick primarily to just creator owned properties.

I wish I could site the source, but I don't remember it, but there was an interview in which Kelly Sue said that she wanted to give Carol amnesia at the beginning of her run so she'd have a fresh start. So it would be like writing a fresh version of the character, without baggage, or something like that. She wasn't allowed to do it then, but I'd imagine that she's enjoying the freedom of it now and doesn't really want to get too much into it. In other words, the amnesia is more of a tool for Kelly Sue than it is a story point.

In other words, the amnesia is more of a tool for Kelly Sue than it is a story point. That's how i see it, too, and to have her out adventuring in space meeting all these new people and whatnot also fits in with that idea. Honestly, a prolonged or running storyline about fucking amnesia (is there anything more cliche in modern fiction) would wear on me; I much prefer the wild, loose, fun feel of this run since the renumber than a heavy, angsty, drawn out thing about battling the effects of her lost memories or her past. For me, that's part of what made the first volume (before the renumbering) so hit and miss; unless she's gonna go on a girl's day out with Rogue and clear that particular air, I couldn't care less about Carol battling her past, metaphorically or otherwise. I want to see her moving forward and not looking back, which -it seems to me- is what she's been doing in this second run, to good effect

There needs to be an entire run of several books about heroes going out on girls days and nights with rogue! I would buy that over and over

I would like to thank Kelly Sue for making Captain Marvel a great book again with issue #15!
