Can't wait for the new Amazing Spider-Man series! The Spiderverse poster is sweet as hell. That will be on my wall. Anyone anxious for the "Leaning To Crawl" side story?

Ive heard the artwork for Learning To Crawl is suppose to be similar to the original Amazing Spider-Man done by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Im anxious to see how close it actually is or if its just going to somewhat resemble the original.

This is the second of the new Marvel OGNs that I've read, and I loved it. (The other one was X-Men: No More Humans, which I didn't think was very good.) You're right, the art is breathtaking. And the story is up there with any Spidey story I've ever read. Mark Waid and James Robinson killed it. I hope Marvel keeps these OGNs coming. I think I prefer an in-continuity OGN to serialized stories.

When I first started reading comics a few years ago I would only read back issues of The Amazing Spider-man; so when Marvel now started I thought It was a great spot to read books as they came out. And after reading so much of the new marvel stuff I went back and read issue 695 of The Amazing Spider-Man and there are two pages that will just blow your mind if you have been reading Marvel Now books.

Wow, I was really, really underwhelmed with Amazing #4. I've been right there with Dan Slott and Spidey since Amazing #685, but this one completely lost me. I don't like the idea of retconning the origin so that a second person got spider-bit, but I was more than willing to give a writer like Slott the benefit of the doubt. I was almost excited, because Slott has never let me down. Unfortunately, I strongly dislike the Silk character. Her look, her personality, all of it. I think that there are too many spider characters as it is, bringing the JMS spider-totem nonsense doesn't help matters, and the way it was all rolled out left me completely cold.
I was also struck by now little Anna Maria seems to be grieving for Otto. For all intents and purposes, her fiance just died. Over the Superior run, she became my favorite supporting player, but her characterization in this last issue seemed weird and off. I hope it's addressed at some point, rather than having her just suddenly and abruptly being okay with the mind-swap and running interference for Peter.
One bad issue isn't even close to putting me off of the book, and I'm sure it'll go back to being awesome, but, man, I didn't like this one. Am I alone in this?

I'm right there with you, except on Silk. I don't have an opinion on her, yet. I enjoy this title, but it's not hit the Marks that he hit on Superior yet. I'm on-board, but it's not as ground breaking and enjoyable as superior was. I'm enjoying Miles and 2099 a little more at the moment. Amazing is still good, but just a second tier Spider-man book for me. Fortunately it's on my list of "will never leave my pull list" list of books, so I'm in for the next 700 issues.

I liked #5 a lot better. I still don't really like Silk, though.

Man, I'm even more hyped for Spider-Verse with November solicitations (Kaine, Ben Reilly and Ultimate Jessica Drew??!!! SOLD) and Superior Spider-Man #32. I can't wait for the Edge of Spider-Verse issues to start rolling, especially issue #2 with Spider-Gwen.

Does anyone else not care for Learning to crawl? I'm getting it, but it's just not...clicking with me. Amazing is good, but I'm liking it less than Miles right now. Anyone else feel similarly/differently?

I'm sticking with Amazing only and also Miles Morales(which I also like the best out of the two Spider-books) It's always good to see somebody else reading Miles. I know lots of peopole do, but its SUCH a good book and has been so consistent over the years, its a shame it doesn't get as much attention as say Hawkeye or Captain Marvel do. Every character is interesting. I feel like I read it for the Ganke, MJ, Gwen, May, JJ etc moments as much as I read it for Miles. But I just have this fear that it'll get cancelled. I'm buying 3 copies of it a month, 1 for me, 1 for my littel brother and 1 because it deserves it. Also did you pick up All-New X-Men this week? Loving the Ultimate universe cross-over.
