Just wanted to see if there are others here who enjoy reading books like The Rocketeer, The Shadow, or Green Hornet?

Yes absolutely! I have also been enjoying the 'modern' Black Bat and Captain Midnight books as well.

Black Bat is terrific. The only part I dislike is how the women are drawn.
Doc Savage and The Shadow by Chris Roberson are really good. He really understands these characters.
I also like Waid/Samnee/JBone's Rocketeer.

I also like Waid/Samnee/JBone's Rocketeer. Pacino, I was so thrilled when IDW brought back Dave Stevens' Rocketeer, and even more that they placed it such capable hands! If we interview the head honcho of IDW, you can be sure that I'll ask if there will be more! As to Doc Savage (who built Cliff's jet-pack, according to Mr. Stevens!), the new series by Chris Roberson has been a lot of fun! Did you ever read Mr. Roberson's Masks mini series? In essence, it's a "Justice League" of pulp, strip, early comics and radio heroes-- Shadow, Green Hornet, Zorro, Miss Fury, Green Lama--and it was amazing! It's been collected in trade, too!

I did! That is what put me onto Dynamite's run of books. The art by Calero was terrific, and I even liked Alex Ross' interiors on the first issue (I'm usually not a fan of his sequential stuff, to be frank). Roberson is beginning to become one of my favorite writers, because I HAVE to read Edison Rex the instant it is released, too. Was really excited to hear he's going to be starting his own creator-owned series at Image called Sovereign.
I have to say I couldn't get into Waid's Green Hornet; it felt like a slog to get through the political machinations and him keeping up the public facade.

I don't feel so alone now, as I had the same problem with the Mark Waid Green Hornet! I may revisit it as a trade somewhere down the road, but as a monthly I felt very disconnected from the character! (Whatever you do, don't buy Miss Fury; it is terrible beyond words--and the pictures are lousy, too!)

Oh, I try every pulp that comes out, and that was by far the worst; weird since I don't think Robb Williams is a bad writer. Maybe the character doesn't work anymore (look at the Catwoman title for further evidence). The art was horrendous and suffered from what Dynamite sometimes does with putting a fairly green artist on a title and having htem pump out their idea of broken-back 'sexiness'. I am excited for the Gold Key titles, though. Looks like they got some good artists and good writers. I can even ignore all the covers since I only have to buy the Jae Lee and Francavilla ones.

Pacino, In her role in Masks, Chris Roberson did a great job capturing the essential Marla Drake, so I had high hopes that he might have passed along his notes! The problem with the writing in the Miss Fury solo series was that Rob Williams wrote Marla AS CATWOMAN, which is a complete mis-read of the character. I did a (to me at least!) very funny review of the frst issue: talkingcomicbooks.com/2013/04/04/miss-fury-1-review/

Thanks for posting that, I will have to go back and check out the original stuff to get a better idea of the character. I didn't realize she was so misrepresented in this title. I'm actually glad to hear it; that means there's more good stuff to find. FWIW, #2:

By the way, I also did a piece on the original Miss Fury and her creator, Tarpe Mills that you might find interesting: talkingcomicbooks.com/2013/03/28/tales-from-the-archives-tarpe-mills-and-miss-fury/

The two titles that I am worried about about are Dynamite Entertainment's " The Highlander series " I have all issues that total up to about 20 books, but Nothing new
IDW Publishing The Crow series because The last crow book I got was The crow Meets the X-files, and I have one more IDW Crow novel to get as well, But nothing new with The crow series

The Crow series I have enjoyed the Highlander books I did not. I think they missed the feel of Highlander completely.

Doc Savage finally ended, and Flash Gordon is ending with issue 8, but we still have Justice, which combines the Avenger, Doc Savage and The Shadow. It's an interesting premise where the current-day Doc is shuffeled into the past to work with Shadow and Avenger. Check it out, fans of any of these characters. www.dynamite.com/htmlfiles/viewProduct.html?PRO=C72513021925101011
