Looking at all the threads that have been created on this section of the forum so far, I noticed that this series has yet to get any real attention. If this were a week ago I probably would have been in the same boat, but recently I picked up issues 2-12 at Half Price Books (I already had 1) and plan on giving it a read here sometime in the next week or so (hopefully). So since I'm about to enter into the world of Nova I feel obligated to ask:
Is anybody currently reading Nova? What do you think of the book? What about old-school Nova since I know next to nothing about the character?

This was my first time reading the character, I've loved all the creative teams on it so far. Really excited to see what Duggan does with the character since I've been absolutely loving his Deadpool run.

Really excited to see what Duggan does with the character since I've been absolutely loving his Deadpool run. Glad to hear. Realistically, the only thing I knew about Sam going in was from that Ultimate Spider-Man TV show that my 6 year old cousin loves to watch. I know that there is a long and storied history there, I was just worried about it being new reader friendly. From what I've read so far it definitely is (which is appreciated) and it seems like a pretty entertaining book. I think Duggan being the current writer is what put me over the edge in terms of buying all the back issues at HPB. He's not only an awesome dude, but he's a phenomenal writer (especially on Deadpool) so I'm eager to see how it turns out, though admittedly I'm far from his run right now (issue #3).

I love Gerry, I've been lucky enough to meet him a few times at conventions and signings and he's a stand up dude. His Deadpool panel at Comikaze Expo was hilarious too. I really enjoy that Nova is such a fun series so far, if you enjoy Gerry's stuff check out Nerd Poker, podcast where him and Brian Posehn play DND with friends. It's pretty hilarious most of the time.

Only read a few issues of the latest series but i've read all of the Abnett and Lanning run.
That was a good run for the most part, especially the first ten or so issues i thought were great but after that i didn't really care about it anymore, too many tie-ins with events i think.

I'll have to check out Nerd Poker, I hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it. Thanks.

I've heard good things about Abnett/Lanning runs. Wonder where a good place to start would be, if I wanted to go back and see what Nova was like in the past. I definitely understand that point of view. Between Infinity and Inhumanity, a lot of books can get bogged down with unnecessary tie-in material that takes away from the main book. But seeing as how this upcoming 13th issue is the start of a new arc and away from all tie-ins, I'm excited to see how it turns out. That being said, hopefully the upcoming New Warriors (which has Sam in it) doesn't become required reading for Nova.

This is my first time actually reading a Nova series, but I have encountered him a lot in tie-in issues or appearances he made in silver and bronze age comics. I'm enjoying the series so far and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in New Warriors. I've heard they have big plans for Nova in the future.

Given his status in the Disney Marvel Television Universe (USM, Hulk:AoS, Avengers) and his involvement with the Guardians of the Galaxy/New Warriors, I'd agree in saying that we'll be seeing big things for the character in the near future, which I'm happy about.

From what I remember they had Nova Corps suits at the Marvel booth at SDCC last year when they had the GotG stuff up. I'm not sure if they've announced any info on that but I feel like maybe we'll see some kind of mention of it in the movie. I love space and sci fi so I'll be reading this series as long as its good.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nova (in any capacity) is seen or mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy. I mean they're already planning a sequel for GotG, so who's to say that Sam and/or another incarnation of Nova wouldn't make an appearance? I think that Marvel wants to expand their Cosmic Cinematic Universe so it would be cool to see him show up. If nothing else, we always have the comic. One thing I think's interesting though is that we've essentially had 3 arcs with 3 different writers. That can't be easy. I wonder how much input across the board Jeph, Zeb and Gerry have had so that they can keep the continuity straight. Either that or the editing team is really rock solid.

I love that Duggan has brought in Beta Ray Bill also. The last issue with him was great.

I love the abnett lanning run of Nova and love the character of Rich Rider. The difference is he was 'Nova' as he was the last survivor of the nova corp with the world mind and all the nova force inside him. Sam Alexander is a 'Nova' with a portion of the nova force his to wield. I've really enjoyed the run so far but I'm still waiting to find out what happened to rich rider? He was trapped in another universe with Thanos and starlord and both of them have reappeared but no rich!!! It's even mentioned in guardians and starlord won't tell the other guardians what happened. Frustrating much!
