I just recently got my hands on a NM copy of Amazing Spider-man 121, that has never been circulated. My LCS bought an entire collection from a man whose grandfather owned a drug store from 1953-1980 and kept an issue of each comic that came into his shop tucked away. I'm really debating whether to get it CGC graded, because it's between a 9.6 and 9.2 in condition.
When you have something that old in that good of condition I would absolutley say to get it graded. It will help protect it and honestly, in that shape, I would never read it. I would get a beater copy or a digital copy to read and keep that bad boy safe and sound.
Grading can be a touchy issue i've noticed. One one hand, it really can increase the value dramatically of the book and keep it much safer, on the other hand, you are making it nothing more then a print to look at rather then read. An example of this, recently I picked up a longbox for about $0.04/Comic. Inside were the first 6 issues of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy run. Right now they are crazy hot books, ungraded they were worth about $100-125, graded, easily $300+. I ended up trading them (as I have no interest) but it was a big jump in price to spend the bit to get them graded. So it's really all food for thought.
Also, it's all pretty relative, how much time and effort would you want to spend on "selling" your book and how much is someone really willing to pay for it?
