So, what do we all think? On the plus side - $2.99 books; some interesting titles On the con side - lots of double shipping titles; loss of some cool titles without it being clear if/where the characters will appear.
I recently dropped a bunch of DC titles from my pull list so I currently buy 8 titles monthly, in addition to several limited series (Batman & Robin Eternal, Legends of Wonderwoman, the new Poison Ivy & Swamp Thing miniseries etc).
On the face of it, most of my main titles are continuing or are transforming into something where I expect the main characters are showing up. I am going to be checking out Batman, Detective, Nightwing, Batgirl, BG+ Birds of Prey, Hellblazer, Gotham Academy: Next Semester. With the twice-monthlies, that will be 10 books a month. Given the change in pricing structure it equals out to about the same dollar amount, give or take a buck or two.
Depending on the creative teams, I'll probably also check out the first issue of Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl.
March 26 is when we will learn about the artists+authors. Really hoping there are some good names attached to these books (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let the rumour that Marguerite Bennett is writing Wonder Woman be true - and have her teamed up with an awesome artist).

I think the new pricing structure and shipping schedule that DC is going for is a great idea. Marvel has pretty much been double shipping the majority of their books for years now so it's very smart that DC is taking the same approach but with a lower price point. I think the Batman weeklies were a test to see if this system could be supported and it was obviously successful enough that DC is going ahead with the change.
My pull list will definitely be affected by the double shipping, but not in any real major way because some of the monthly books I am reading now ill be ending completely and will be folding into another title. For example I current read Batman/Superman & Superman/Wonder Woman, both of which are ending but it seems they have a replacement in the Trinity book which I will pick up.
I am really just waiting to hear what the direction and creative teams will be for all of the books as that will be a deciding factor on what I chose to continue with.

I think if I'm getting two issues of Batman a month (assuming it's good) and I'm saving 2/3 of the price of another DC title over paying for double shipped Marvel comics, we're getting a decent deal. Above all else, what matters is the quality, if a book isn't good I'm not going to stick with it even if the pricing is good. Next step for DC is nailing the creative teams. I think a few will be the same, I can't imagine Gotham Academy being written by anyone other than the current team. I think we'll see Batgirl/Birds of prey taken on by a mix of the current Batgirl and Black Canary teams.

Not a huge fan of how double shipping worked out for Marvel, I feel the rush to get out multiple issues effected their quality, so not super hyped to see so many titles doing the same from DC. Still at the end of the day if the creative teams are solid & stories great I'll be grabbing a lot of them.

I don't have much experience with twice monthly books because I haven't gotten a marvel book in awhile. How does it affect the overall quality of the book? do they have to have to have several artists per issue?

I like the positivity of Johns message & what they are trying to do, its a business so I can understand the double-shipping on certain characters, with that price point its do'able for me as many of you have said IF the quality is there.
Its also good to hear DiDio saying it isn't a reboot, some new No.1s but no universe changing stuff.
I'm gutted King / Seeley are off Grayson but I gave them a chance and they blew me away so I'll definitely be giving the next team a chance. I'll be interested to see who takes over from Johns / Fabok on Justice League, I was enjoying their run and had hoped it would of lasted longer.
I'm keeping an open mind but if in a few years time there's another event called 'Afterbirth' I may not be onboard for that one!

This could mean i am going to pick up some DC books again.I have always found 3 euro to be a good price for a new comic, and a lot of times i have a problem paying more than that for a 20 something page book.So good news for me, i guess.Though i don't think i'm going to pick up every book that's being double shipped immediately when its released.

I can't tell how much it's going to appeal to me until they announce all of the creative teams, but I'm not sure it'll change my current habits all that much. I'm currently reading Gotham Academy, so finding out that made the cut is exciting, and I'm glad it's on the short "only shipping once a month" list, and it already is $3 so the price point isn't changing, though granted a fairly big part of why I picked it up in the first place was that price point, so thumbsup. I'm also reading/trade-waiting Batman after going back and forth on it for the last few years, and with Snyder/Capullo leaving that I . . well like I said, I don't know which direction I'm going to move on anything DC that's not Gotham Academy, 'cause I'm more about the creative teams than I am about characters.
I will say this: I too am very pleased at the price announcement, and I too am not very pleased with the double-shipping most of their books announcement. I'm in the majority on both of those, and actually quite surprised to see one of the big two actively roll prices back in a pretty big way, loudly, and not just to $3.50 either, but all the way back to the "Drawing the Line At" point, even if the double-shipping sees most of those books actually go up in price per month (but for twice the pages, one can assume, so whatevs).
But the big thing is the names. I'd love to be reading a Superman book, or a JL book, or WW, or several other DC property books I'm not currently reading, so fingers crossed they land some Image-level talent on books that I might potentially get excited about. Batgirl? Teen Titans, maybe? Possibly Trinity? None of the double shipped books are likely to land on my pull, regardless of the team, so I guess that's Batman, JL, JLA, WW, Superman, & Flash off the table. But, yeah . . we shall see. All eyes on the big announcement at the end of the month.

I don't have much experience with twice monthly books because I haven't gotten a marvel book in awhile. How does it affect the overall quality of the book? do they have to have to have several artists per issue? In my opinion the Marvel double shipping books that work best have alternating art teams between arcs. Reads better to have the whole story arc with one artist. As for the writing it really comes down to how well the writer can plan out ahead and write storylines for the current and following arcs. I think writers like Dan Slott manage it well others such as Rick Remender seemed to struggle and their work suffered. Just my opinion of course.

I plan on continuing to pick up Red Hood and the Outlaws. The New 52 version of Jason Todd is perfect and between this and the animated movie, he has become my favorite former Robin just edging out Dick Grayson.
I would like a new creative team. The 100 bullets combo or Azzarello and Risso could work well but I think ots more likely to be Seeley and Janin. I'm interested in anything by Tom King(meet him at a con if you have the chance). And I love Janie's work and am interested to see where he ends up.

I forgot to mention hopes for Blue Beetle. I am a huge Ted Kord fan and hope he and Jaime Reyes get to headline a book together.
P.S. my brother may have bought me a Blue Beetle costume shirt.

What books are you all excited for? I am looking forward to checking out Batman, Detective Comics, Batgirl, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, Superman, New Superman, and The Flash.
Might have to cut the list down a little....
