Hi all
Whilst searching for digital magazines to read back in December i came across Comixology and at that time i was going through superhero phase
At first i was completely confused by all the different types of Spiderman, batman and various other incarnations of superheroes. After a lot of searching since then i seem to have a better understanding of some things.
When i was kid i was never a big comic fan, i had a few Spiderman, Dan Dare and Commando comics but i honestly can't remember reading them other than liking the art work. I'm 41 now and whilst searching through comixology i felt like this may be something i'd enjoy doing.
I've only downloaded a couple of things, i started with Spiderman Noir - Eyes without a face, i hadn't read any reviews about it, but i just liked the art work. I enjoyed the 1st issue and the world that it built and the different characters, but i felt that issues 2,3 and 4 never built on that 1st issue and i felt some of the writing fell back on coincidences happening rather than having something clever. One case in point is when Spiderman is getting beaten up the Sandman and then some random guy says to the police oh i think i saw the crime master head down that alley. I felt that was rather weak writing. It maybe that only having 4 issues meant that they couldn't do much with it, so then why do it. Has anyone else read Spiderman Noir and whats their thoughts?
I then got issue one of The Remains by Cullen Bunn and just read that last night which i enjoyed even though not much happened, a weird guy turns up and then the 2 girls head to the barn with with dog. So i thought to create a nice little world was good with very little. I would definitely be tempted to get the other issues but im hoping that it isn't something like the barn is built on top of a burial ground and the weird guy is some sort of zombie who summons the dead back to life.
Has anyone else read The Remains and enjoyed all 4 issues?
Also I really enjoyed your previous podcast the listener questions and it was good to hear you talk about a few things that ive got in my wishlist. Even though i was a complete newbie your knowledge on the subject was so interesting to listen to. Will listen to last weeks this week sometime whilst at work.
Just a couple of questions about recommendations i've always been a big Spiderman and Batman fan, so what is a good Spiderman comic i was thinking about getting Volume 1 of The Amazing Spiderman The Parker Luck, what are peoples thoughts on that? I was also thinking about getting Volume 1 of Batman The Court of Owls also.
I was also intrigued by Super Zero, Fables Cinderella, Alpha Girl, Promethee
Also what would be considered good for Superman, is Volume 1 of the new 52 a good place to start?
I'm hoping to buy a few comics tomorrow or so, but i did get a free comic the other day of issue 1 of Aladdin Legacy of the lost, is this any good?
I hope i haven't asked to many questions but i'm really hoping i get into comics.
Thanks
