Hello Talking Fam! I am always looking for a good film to watch! I love love love movies, which is why I love the Talking Movies podcast. That said, I always find myself in search of a good movie to watch on nights that I really don't feel like going out. I never know where to go to find random treasures since there really are no more video stores and Netflix is a joke because they only show you a fraction of what they really have. Now don't get me wrong, "Netflix and chill" is always a great time, but sometimes I actually want to watch a movie. So what I am trying to get at here is I would love to know some good movies, it doesn't matter the time period or genre, but what are some good films? Now I understand it's impossible for anyone know know what I enjoy or have seen, or what I'm in the mood for, but just pretend that doesn't matter and suggest to me some of your favorite films, your guilty pleasures, your go to films on a rainy night in. It could be anything from Adventure, Romance, Drama, horror, you name it. Maybe, just maybe this could be a cool place people can discover films they have never seen before. In the mean time I am going to check out V for Vendetta since the girl I invited over has never seen it. Cheers, Adam

Big Trouble in Little China is a fantastic movie and can be seen on Netflix. Loved that movie growing up and still do.
In that vein, I would also suggest They Live with Rowdy Roddy Piper and one of the best lines in film.
Let me know if you've seen those.

I second Big Trouble, that's a classic. But really depends your mood for the evening and movie's do set the tone.
I'll suggest things from a few different categories for ya:
Comedy's: So I Married an Axe Murderer (Young Mike Meyers is in that one), Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Anything Mel Brooks (Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein), Monty Python, Clue, Naked Gun Series, Hot Shots (1 & 2), Major League, Sukiyaki Western Dijango, Beverly Hills Cop, and Golden Child.
Action/Adventure, The Goonies, 5th Element, The Rock, Con Air, Kill Bill, Red, Face/Off, Book of Eli, Heat, Sandpebbles, Machette, Underworld, Boondock Saints, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Enter the Dragon, and A History of Violence.
Horror: Trick R' Treat, Candyman, Repoman the Genetic Opera, Tales from the Crypt Bordello of Blood or Demon Night, Army of Darkness, Dusk Til Dawn, Gremlins, House on Haunted Hill (original 1956), Lord of Illusion, Tremors, Omega Man (Charleton Heston version), Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Ugetsu (Japanese), and Rashomon (also Japanese).
Sorry, don't have many suggestions for Romance except Love Actually.

I think everybody should check out What We Do in the Shadows, it is a New Zealand made Mockumentary that follows some Vampires who flat with each other, and as a side note it is directed by Taka Waititi who is the person who will be directing the new Thor: Ragnarok film.
Another film I love that never seems to get mentioned is Lucky Number Slevin.

Carol, When we were doing our Fanboy Remix show back in the old days, we did a "List Of Shame" episode about movies that we talked about, but had never actually seen, and "Leon" was on my list. Our self-appointed task was to watch the films on our lists, and once I saw "Leon", I ran right out to buy it, as I had to own it! I'll put a slip in the suggestion box; "American Mary", written and directed by The Twisted Twins, Jen & Sylvia Soska. it's a dark comedy/horror/female revenge flick about a university medical student who uses her talents in some very interesting ways! Here's a trailer:

Here's a trailer: This looks like a movie I can sink my teeth into thanks for the recommendation. As far as Leon the professional saw it in the theater as I was a huge fan of Hitman and other things involving assassinations. This movie had it all for me and I completely fell in love with it.

Carol,
It was odd that I hadn't seen Luc Besson's "Leon", as I had recently seen and much enjoyed his work as writer and director on "Le Femme Nikita", another film that I would highly recommend! (The American re-make is also worth a look-see; entitled "Point of No Return", it has a screenplay by Mr. Besson, and a top-notch lead performance by Bridget Fonda, and if it's not as superb as the original, it's a solid action flick!)

Part 2 picks up directly after part 1. Intriguing story with what i think is the best action on film.
