I figured I'd kick off this video game section by bringing up something that everyone can get involved in: What are/were your favorite games of 2013? This year was huge for gaming and not only brought us some fantastic games but also brought in a new cycle of video game consoles.
For me my favorites were:
10. Gone Home 9. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch 8. Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward 7. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon 6. The Last of Us 5. Papers Please 4. Tomb Raider 3. Bioshock Infinite 2. The Stanley Parable 1. Fire Emblem Awakening
The important thing I wish to note is that this isn't the BEST games of 2013 list. We could argue till we're blue in the face as to which was the BEST game of 2013. This is just a list of my (and soon your) favorite games of 2013.
Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Not played a game for a few years, but when I saw the trailer for Lego marvel super heroes I knew it was time to get back on the horse!! Got it for Christmas and am playing it with my 7 year old daughter which is frustrating but awesome!!! Still look back to the days of sitting playing Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for days strait and get a warm feeling inside :-)

Video games are a thing of the past for me with the kids but I will make an exeception for Batman games so I got Arhkam origins. Haven't played it as much as I like but it's awesome. I mean it's Batman so not much else to say.
I also played injustice for a while and loved it. The story was fantastic and really engaging. I am not really a fighting gamer but I loved it and actually got pretty decent. I thought getting to fight as and against DC characters was awesome. There moves were so cool.

I really did love Lego Marvel Superheroes. It was a fantastic, all ages game that really captured the essence of the comics as well as the fun of the Lego games. Scribblenauts did a similar thing with DC.
Yeah Injustice was on my list for the longest time. It was one of the best, well crafted fighters I played this year. Sadly it slipped out of my list in late December. Still, absolutely love playing that game. It's tons of fun...especially Aquaman's finisher

Really need to play Guacamelee. I've heard nothing but fantastic things about it. Gonna get on that shortly. Happy to see some love for Tearaway and Rivals too. I rarely ever play racing games but I had a free game for my PS4 and it was the one they had left so I got it and I've been enjoying the heck out of it. And Tearaway (along with Ys) finally gave me a reason after Persona 4 to turn my Vita on again.
And I felt bad not putting SR4 on my list (it got knocked off around the time Injustice did) but that was probably one of the most fun experiences I had this year. I'm a die-hard Saints fan so I went in with high expectations. I was not disappointed.
And yay, fellow Tomb Raider fan. The Definitive Edition cover has been my background since it was announced.

This year has been slow for me in terms of gaming, but I've been enjoying Starbound quite a bit. I also enjoyed Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn for a few months.

I played a fair amount of FFXIV. Enjoyed it a lot. Probably going to put some more time into it down the road. Gotta have something to do to pass the time between now and Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3

Guacamelee might actually be the best thing I played all year. It's so good. The only problem was it's too short, unless you're playing on hard, that adds a bit of length. I'm praying for a sequel to be announced.
NFS rivals was my free game too! I don't like racing games at all but this one is so arcadey I really enjoy It.
Saints row 4 was my first ever saints game and the super power thing pulled me in. It was liked crackdown when crackdown was awesome.
I really enjoyed injustice too. I played way too many games this year.

For me, I benefited from having Gamefly which helped me play all the games I wanted to while only keeping the ones I REALLY wanted. Otherwise I couldn't have played half the games that I did. I'll give Guacamelee a chance, as soon as I'm done with Super Mario 3D World. Yeah the arcadey aspect is what I enjoyed as well. Give Saints Row 3 a play when you get the chance. It's better than 4 in a lot of ways but if you at all liked 4, you'll love this. Plus a lot of story in 4 is explained in 3. And yeah...Aquaman. That's all that needs to be said about Injustice. Mmm...mmm..

I'm praying for a sequel to be announced. I loved that game! I couldn't stop playing it for like a week straight. I still have a few more collectibles to get, so I should go back and play sometime soon. I loved the classic feel with the more modern art style. Perfection. I think it should have won game of the year even about The Last of Us. Other games I played last year that I really thought were pure perfection: The Last Of Us Bioshock Infinite Journey The Walking Dead (Season 1) I didn't get a chance to play Arkham Origins, but I'll probably give it a chance when it goes down in price. I'm done paying full price for video games. I played a crap ton of games in the beginning of the year last year, but I kind of stopped towards the end... Nothing really good came out in the last half of 2013. I'm kind of sick of the "Open World" games that became nauseatingly popular lately. I don't care about gameplay, I care about the story (which might actually be influenced by my comic book reading)

origins was good, not quite on par with the first two arkham games, but def worth playing. The fact it wasnt rocksteady and wasnt a complete disaster was a surprise.
The whole open world setting isnt my thing either. I much prefer a more linear story line and path. If I play one, like a dead rising or infamous, ill have to play something else before i dive into another.

I bought Guacamelee but I still haven't played it yet! GAH, I should definitely check it out. Ok, so my list is just favourite games that I played this year since I didn't really play all the games from this year that I wanted to.
-Last Of Us -Bioshock Infinite -Tomb Raider -Uncharted (I know, I'm way behind on this one, but I played it and that's what's important) -Dishonored
I played several other games, but there wasn't a ton that really stood out to me. I DID love The Wolf Among Us Episode 1 but I don't know if I'm allowed to include that on my list or not.

Love that game so much. And yeah, I think you're allowed to include The Wolf Among Us. It's a good game. All I know is Telltale has quite the 2014 ahead of them.
