I didn't know that... thanks for the info. Around what time did the character get introduced? Alan moores saga of the swamp thing 37, 1985. He was a background character there for a long time. He was created to look like sting, i guess john totleben (my all time favorite artist) was a fan. If you like really dark story telling that is highly intelligent, beautifully drawn, psychedelic at times... i highly recommend that run. As much as i like hellblazer, i was a bigger fan before he had his own book. I guess i enjoy him playing off other characters a bit more. That corner of comicdom still remains as some of my absolute favorite stuff. Im fascinated by that world. Again, thanks, I will have to add that to the giant list of older stories I am trying to read. based on your summary of that run it sounds like it will hit a lot of the notes I enjoy.

I think you will like it. Im a huge fan of Early Alan Moore, as opposed to his later stuff (which i still like, but not as much). His MiracleMan run is my #1 favorite run of anything that i have read so far.

Huge fan of Alan Moore and what he brings to the medium, in particular the unmatched Swamp Thing run. As an example of his later(ish) work, I think Top Ten is magnificent. Promethea too, but understandably not for everyone.

Anybody know what's up with the artists? Is Riley Rossmo just taking a few issues off or are there going to be different artists throughout?

I think its just a short break as Ming Doyle and Vanessa Del Ray did #3 and Vanessa Del Ray did #4, but I can't find any news and Rossmo is still plugging #5 and #7 as far as I can see. All the covers are his though.

The New 52 Constantine was indeed a little bizarre and not as rough and grimy, given what people came to expect from the character. The new series is "Constantine: The Hellblazer" and hasn't been collected in to a trade yet. What you have ordered is the first collection of the first Constantine solo series, "Hellblazer" from the late 80's. Not Constantine's first appearance but the first ongoing with him as the lead. It is a fantastic read! The first arch of the new series will be collected next year some time. Plenty of time to get in to the 300 issues of Hellblazer that your new trade starts with!

Thanks mate for explaining all of that. Makes a lot of sense now thanks a lot. My Original Sins arrived today and i dove right in and it is awesome. I don't think i have read a better comic. Its hard to believe they made the New 52 version from this. They are so different. Can't wait to get the second volume now

I loved the new 52 Constantine, before and after the new take on it after convergence. It is what it is, love it or hate it. But i rather enjoyed the more "dc" friendly take early on. It was well executed. I get why people wanted the more hellblazer version, hence the relaunch. Anyways, i love this book!

If you like the early Hellblazer then I would strongly recommend the Alan Moore & Rick Veitch run on Swamp Thing - if you haven't checked it out already. Similar art and tone. Also the first appearance of Constantine in there.
