Just got to the music part of this weeks show - I will listen to the AOU Review this afternoon but as it struck me while listening I thought I'd mention it in case I forgot.
I just wanted to say I was really moved by Bob's reaction to FF, I think every story which has resonated over the years has clearly touched him on a very personal level. When characters begin to transcend their medium, when the love and craft injected by a multitude of creators into a series is such that they become clear fully realized individuals with history and feelings you can relate to then these are more than stories and characters their essence has become real.
To have this kind of reaction is not simply in the hands of the creators, the writers and artists skills are obviously a key element but for it affect you it has to be a symbiotic relationship between the reader and the storytellers. To create the level of emotion witnessed the reader has to give themselves to the work, has to allow themselves to become immersed in the world and the characters, I could hear in Bob's emotional voice that this was indeed the case.
The team have discussed before works which have touched them on such an emotional level on the show previously, I find it rare personally but when it happens the feeling of total satisfaction, of a sudden desire to share the knowledge that this book rocks! is overwhelming. When the relationship is decades in the making, when it has nurtured over such a long period I struggle to imagine the emotional strings which must be stretching right now.
Thank you for sharing Bob, it's wonderful to know I picked the right podcast to listen to which has people involved who care so deeply about comics - something I have loved since my earliest memory.
A big Fonzy Thumbs Up from me

i really enjoyed the movie and liked it more than Avengers. It's really become a full-fledged comic book universe on screen, and I love that. No, it didn't 'end' but neither do comic book universes.

Based on your lovely and articulate post, it seems my worries were un-founded, as your reaction is more than I could have hoped for. Thanks so much, Bob

no i thank you. it was a very moving speech, and i cant even imagine how you must feel about the End (for now) of something you followed with so much passion for such a long time.
lets face it you talking about FF, old and new, is one of the best things about this podcast

I agree with Bob on the issue of Thor's hammer and who should be worthy of wielding it. I think the pay off was a lost opportunity

seeing Thor's eyes turn into saucers and sucking in his breath when it moved just a touch for Cap was the funniest part of the movie though

The scene with The Vison was great, don't get me wrong, but how about this: with Thor down for the count, he hands Mjolnir to Cap, who throws the hammer clean through Ultron, wiping that metallic grin right off his kisser! That scene would have brought the house down, in my opinion at least.

Thank goodness for Marvel Masterworks!

Jonathan, To be honest, by the end of my requiem, I don't know that I could have continued along in that vein; in fact, that I'm receiving so many lovely comments about it has me in nearly the same state again, knowing that my passion for the "World's Greatest Comic Magazine" has touched some of you as well. Thanks so much, Bob

Good discussion about Age of Ultron, guys!I agreed with a lot of what you said.
This is just a suggestion, so do with it what you will, but maybe it would be nice if the next time the show is delayed or something like that if it could be mentioned somewhere on the Forum by the TC crew, for those people that don't follow Talking Comics on Twitter, or don't have Twitter at all(like me).Don't mean to bitch or anything, you know i love you guys, but it was just something i noticed.Like i said, do with it what you will.
And Bob, your emotional speech has made me want to read Fantastic Four again.I have always loved the team and what they stand for, but the last couple of years i haven't kept up at all.The Hickman run was the last thing i read, so now i want to read what came after that, the Fraction run of FF and Fantastic Four, and the James Robinson run.Think most of that is on Marvel Unlimited. So thanks for that, Bob!
