ok about time to put this up, even if I'm the only one doing it this was a good week for me. I had 4 books and 3 of them could have been my best of the week. fortunately by the time I got through the pile I had made up my mind The lowest point this week was Spider-Man 2099 #11, which wasn't bad, but was up against stiff competition. If I'm really honest with myself though, I'm glad this series is ending. I feel like it was just a vehicle for Spider-Verse tie-ins and Peter David never got to really give it a story of its own. Secret Wars will put it out of its misery, at least for now. It's a sad end for one of my favorite characters from the 90s though. The big competition came down to Birthright #6, Saga #27 and Descender #2. Birthright continues to be a lot of fun and there was a surprise or two that made me do a double take which is always great. Saga gave me some great insight into Marco and this book almost got my pick of the week based on the final 2 pages alone. Don't want to spoil anything though so I'll leave it at that. My book of the Week though has got to go to Descender #2. This book continues to grab my imagination. We get some fleshing out of a character or two, more fantastic art, and just what I would call (for lack of a better term) a great mood. Sci Fi is definitely my bag lately, and this one gets the nod just for being slightly less of a soap opera than Saga.

I couldn't agree more on Descender. Just read issue 2 half an hour ago. Pretty much a perfect issue. The flashbacks worked wonderfully and loved that dude who showed up at the end. Plus the artwork is outstanding. Also well worth a mention is Transformers vs GI Joe no.6. A none - stop action/idea packed comic bristling with energy. Quite possibly the most unpredictable comic series I've ever read. Brilliant stuff.

Descender #2 was fantastic - it's right near the front of the pack at the moment.
All-New Hawkeye #2 - great, hard to imagine it being able to stick close to a monthly schedule with this artwork, but I hope it does.
Birthright #6 - Pretty good. Honestly, I think this series would have had better dramatic tension if the reveal at the end of #1 had been teased out a bit longer. I'm enjoying it, but I don't think the central conceit of the character is working as well as intended (sorry if that's over vague - trying to avoid spoiling the central plot)
Copperhead #6 - More Boo, which has to be good. Love this series.
Legacy of Luther Strode #1 - Tradd Moore's art is spectacularly over the top, as you'd expect. This is going to be Luther's last story - looking forward to the ride.
Rat Queens #10 - Enjoyed this a lot, it feels to me like Sejic is bedding in to the series now and the art works a lot better than in #9 for me which is great.
Saga #27 - Wouldn't you know it - still great! This issue actually has achieved some distinction since I normally hate it when this particular plot device is used to bring a character to an epiphany, but it actually works here.

I wish they had let that simmer beneath the surface for a while as well. The book is really good, but keeping that in their pocket would have made it better in my opinion. I wish I had room in my pull for Rat Queens. I'm a big Sejic fan and have heard nothing but good things about that series, but I jsut don't have the budget to pick it up! Glad he's settling in though, as I'd heard from others the art felt a little off last issue.
