ok so I figured I would start this off this week here's what I read from this week: Rocket Raccoon 8 Manifest Destiny 13 Moon Knight 12 Silk 1 Drifter 4 I think for my book of the week I would have to go with Rocket Raccoon 8. This book continues to be a load of fun, and this one seemed like some good character development time for Rocket. I was really starting to like Jink and now I'm bummed the story is moving on without her. I'd love to see her join the Guardians or maybe turn the Rocket/Groot duo into a power trio. My only beef is that I really like Skottie Young's interiors more than Filipe Andrade's. Not to say the art is bad; on the contrary it's some very cool art, but I just prefer Young's stuff for this particular series (though if I can't have Young's art, Andrade's is a decent substitute). Now if you told me Andrade was going to do Moon Knight I would be all about that

yeah Rocket takes the cake for me, too. It's so damn fun. And I was very pleasantly surprised at how well Andrade's style worked for the last two issues; he's no Skottie Young, but after hating his art on Captain Marvel, I felt like it worked really well, here. I love the way he draws Rocket's little paws and his facial expressions, and the ice princess was very neat looking, and WOW the monster was jawdropping in a few panels. Well done. Both of the "fill in" artists have been excellent so far.

So my list this week was:
Batgirl 39 Batman and Robin 39 Green Lantern New Guardians 39 Justice League 39 Multiversity: Mastermen 1 Teen Titans 7
I'm going to give it to Multiversity this week. While all the other books were good Multiveristy was definitely the strongest of the bunch. Grant Morrison continues to bring us through the Multiverse and Jim Lee's art does not disappoint. Pacing was a little off this time around, but we have more content packed in this one issue that we get in entire arcs these days. In terms of the overall series, I feel it was on the lower end of the other one-shots, but that being said, this book is still in the top shelf.

I'm not much of a DC reader, but I may have to check it out sometime soon

So, my most notable reads this week: The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw #4 Bitch Planet #3 MPH #5 The Multiversity: Mastermen #1 She-Hulk #12 Lazarus #15
Bitch Planet #3 was the best issue of the series for me, which is both gratifying and disappointing in equal parts... it's a really strong stand-alone issue that does a better job introducing setting, introducing its lead character and telling a compelling story in one issue than the previous two managed combined (and still manages to pack in plenty of message in a way that complements rather than distracts from the plot). Since it doesn't really have anything to do with the main plot (I guess, although I'm still not quite sure what that is...) I suppose it wouldn't have worked as a #1, but maybe as a #0 to introduce the setting? Up to this point, the issues of Bitch Planet feel to me like entries in an anthology with different creators all telling there own stories in a loosely agreed upon shared setting, the tone has swung around so much. All that said, this is comfortably my favourite of the three and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A special mention also to MPH to note that between this and Starlight Millar seems to be writing with far less cynicism these days and it's made his books far more enjoyable to read.

I finally felt like I "got" Rumble with issue 3 and am fully onboard now. Bitch Planet continues to be absolutely amazing and I love the concept on these "Special Thirds". I really enjoyed Plunder, which was a horror comic with pirates (the modern scary kind, not the fun peg legged ones). Rocket Salvage continues to be tremendous fun...in space! Mandrake the Magician continues the King Dynamite line and might be my favourite of the lot so far. The art is fantastic!

Ivar Timewalker #2 was my book of the week, followed by She-Hulk #12. Great finish to the book.

I read only MPH#1 and I loved the art but didn't like the way Millar wrote some of the characters. maybe I'll pick up the trade on this once it's out. I agree that Autumnlands was really good. It's really interesting seeing the reactions to the Chosen One.
