Can't believe there wasn't already a thread for this! Anyway, I just started playing about a month ago and have a love/hate relationship with this game. It's my first DA game. I love the look of it, love the game play and love the weird story and dialogue. I hate the menus and am still confused as hell about much of the game's details. I've been harassing friends for tips on making this game more successful for me, so I'd love to hear from my Talking Comics family. What have your experiences been with this game? Got any tips/tricks that you feel make things a bit less confusing? Might also be fun to share pics/stats of our characters here! Cause pictures are fun. Attachments:

I've just started playing and have sunk 15 hours into it in two days... I love it! I've made one of the characters a dual dagger rogue, so she's a bit like Betty from Rat Queens! I haven't actually done much in the menus, but you can set up preferred actions for your AI characters in battle (I've kind of left it on default, and charge in like a headless chicken...a chicken with a sword). I'm gonna look into it more next time off... I anticipate spending a lot of time with it!

I'd be interested to hear yours, and everyone else's party make-up. (That is, which classes make up different parties, not which ones wear Maybelline...)

I switch my party around here and there to experiment with different arrangements. My character is a mage, so I tend to build my party with 2 warriors and a rogue. Also, I'm a sissy in battle, so I want to have team members who do all the dirty work while I stand back and throw spells.
Favorite mixes so far are: Cassandra, Varrick and Iron Bull. Sera, Iron Bull and Blackwall.

I admit I do tend to fill my party with people who provide the most entertaining chit chat, too.

I finished it about a month ago and loved it, although I will readily admit I'm terrible at video games - even playing on casual battles take ages for me and I die a lot. I played as a female dwarf because it's the closest to seeing my body type on screen I'll ever get. My choices in the game could best be described as "whatever makes Dorian happy," because I ADORE him. I probably win some sort of prize for longest unbroken streak of having Dorian in my party. I did not think of strategy at all when putting together my parties, LOL. I also tended to take Iron Bull with me a lot, and either Sera or Cole. I sided with the mages when I played through. I might do another where I side with the templars just to see how that affects the story. I also romanced Blackwall but that was partly by accident, I can't say I was super into it and I stuck with it mostly to get the achievement.

Ah, mine's an archer - pretty much ways go for that, as I also like range. Then it's a dual-wield rogue and a Mage. Though the AI on the DW rogue is apparently a little iffy, so I'll have to control her myself I think.

That's the reason I have Sera - I like the fact she's crazy. Oh, and I made Vivienne like Storm, so it's all Storm based magic. ?

That's odd, I picked a smiley emoji. O.o (back to basics)

I was playing this game like crazy when i bought it, but i havent played for a month or so now and i don't really feel the need to jump back in...yet. I think it has to do with the size of the game, its pretty damn intimidating.

I keep seeing clips of the incredible sex scenes, so I've tried to romance several of my team mates. So far, I've been turned down by everyone by but Blackwall, but his beard creeps me out.

I'm about 93 hours in and loving it. I've gone Mage with Knight Enchanter build wh ich is essentially invincible once you any damage you cause feeding back into your barrier. Fave party generally consists of Iron Bull, Sera & Dorian. Iron Bull's reaction to Dragons is awesome

I dumped Blackwall and have officially romanced Cullen, who's much more my speed. So far all he does is kiss me, so I may have to introduce some more aggressive tactics soon. I have a few spare maces on hand... On a battle note, Blackwall, Iron Bull and Dorian have become my power team. Sometimes I feel bad for not choosing the ladies more often, but they just don't seem to protect me as well and really it's all about me.

Completed the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts quest last night, which deals with Empress Celene. Was a great little segment, different change of pace from what I had done previously in the game. I hope they do nice HD updates of Dragon Age 1 & 2, I'd love to do a replay through all 3 games like I ended up doing with Mass Effect.

Inquisition is SO good. I can't praise this enough. Just finished the side quest of eliminating the Carta leader in Valammar and killing a few darkspawn along the way. Here are my thoughts so far:
Morrigan * The open-world exploration * The mixture of DAII's action and DAO's tactics for the battle system * Challenging battles in some parts
Alistair * Lack of item storage options, so one has to resort to destroying items more often than not (though a patch based is in the works, I have read)
