Can someone explain to me what exactly Best Overall Comic means to you? Thanks in advance Nick, I struggle to get my ducks in a row on this category, too! As I look at it, it's a way to ensure that we have a discussion about the "Best Comic of the Year" that can include mini-series, OGNs, one-shots, and single issues as well as the fall-back on-going series...I think?

Alright so here's why I love this forum...reading through everyone's list I discovered 3 new titles I'm going to have to check out 1. Death Vigil: checked it out on comixology, the premise is right up my alley and I can see why Stjepan Sejic is getting so much art love... 2. The Wicked & The Divine: Just finished the first arc, so much fun 3. JL8: I'm not a DC guy & I know it's not a "real" DC book, but I laughed my ass off reading... A vs X babies, but better story... Thanks everyone!!!

Definitely have to echo toxicsooner, I'm brand new to this forum but already I'm learning a lot about what I've missed this year, and can't wait to go back over some of the books and series that you all are recommending. That's genuinely the best part of this end-of-year review process for me really, discovering things I've not had chance to read or even a couple I've not heard of! Keep 'em coming guys, loving the discussion.

Now that I know the Wake can no longer be nominated for best mini-series, I'm changing my vote to The Death Defying Doctor Mirage. This series is from Valiant, written by Jan Van Meter and drawn by Robert de la Torre. I'm really impressed with this series, the art is rich, layered and exhibits a lot of the supernatural elements in the story. And the story has been super engaging about Doctor Mirage, a gifted paranormal investigator who can talk with the dead, but the only person she can't reach is her dead husband. Her journey to try to connect with her husband's spirit is pretty powerful. Would definitely rate it as one of my favorite comics of the year.

Best Overall Comic: I don't understand this category. It should always be the same as Best Ongoing unless a mini or GN really blew your @#$%ing face off. And if your face is gone then that mini or GN is already represented in the categories below...
Best Ongoing Series: BPRD: Hell on Earth (Criminally overlooked series. By far the best team book on the stands with some of the most unique characters in comics, excellent artists and an ambitious, epic storyline.)
Best Writer: Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Walking Dead, Outcast, Walking Dead TV Show... I'm hard pressed to think of anyone else who writes this many high quality, varied series.)
Best Artist: Chris Samnee
Best New Series: Rat Queens
Best Story Arc: Thor: God of Thunder "The Last Days of Midgard"
Best Mini-Series: Da4e (by Ryan Ferrier and Valentin Ramon, published by Monkeybrain. Ferrier is a guy I'd keep your eye on.)
Best Graphic Novel: Doomboy (by Tony Sandoval, published by Magnetic Press)
Best One Shot/Single Issue: Moon Knight #3 (This is the issue where MK wears a suit of @#$%ing bones and punches ghosts!)
Best Breakthrough Writer: Kurtis J. Wiebe
Best Breakthrough Artist: Tradd Moore (Ghost Rider, Luther Strode, Secret Avengers covers, single issue of Zero)
Best Cover: Thor #25 (Variant by R.M. Guera)
Best Web/Digital Comic: Space Mullet (by Daniel Warren Johnson @ http://www.space-mullet.com)
Best Publisher: BOOM
