When you guys were talking about your answers to that first question about digital comics, and how comics companies are scared of annoying comic stores, I thought that perhaps that whole thing could be avoided if comic stores provided a way for their customers to buy digital comics off of them. Perhaps by selling digital comics on their website or something, or working out some kind of thing with iTunes, to use iTunes to sell digital comics from like a store account or something. No idea if something like that could work though.
In terms of the draw of the store experience, I always try to buy stuff from my LCS before getting it anywhere else, to support the store, as I definitely enjoy going to my LCS to get my comics, and have been going there for a few years now. The staff there are very cool and talking to them about comics is kinda like talking to the Talking Comics crew, or anyone on here. So for me, it's more like a cool place to hang out, rather than just a retail store or something. Although it is very small, compared to stuff like the Silver Snail or comic stores in the US, so it doesn't have like a café or something like that. But it's very cool, and I definitely like going there. It's not at all like what you might stereotypically expect a comic shop to be like though, in that it actually seems kind of trendy, more like a cool book or music store, and not like a dingy den of nerd-dom. It is in quite an upmarket, trendy area though.
I do like the idea of combining a comic shop with a café though, that the Silver Snail does. After getting my comics from my LCS, I always like to go get a chocolate milkshake (even though I am kinda supposed to be sort of an adult now) from this stand in the train station of the area where the comic store is in. That's one way where Games Workshop is a cool place to go, even though I haven't been in years now, as there you can buy all the stuff you want, as well as play the actual game in store with other people there. So, you get a big social aspect, as well as everything else, as part of going to the store.

I think I definitely agree with what you guys said in regards to Spider-man compared to Batman, and that whole discussion was quite interesting. It made me think that a cool arc for Batman could be a story where he finds that, after some watershed moment, in one of his villains, there is a glimmer of hope for them to become a good person, which Batman and that villain try to work on, and it in turn gives Batman hope and makes him much more optimistic, completely changing the whole dynamic of the character. For example, perhaps the Joker carries out one his huge, multi-layered schemes to screw with Batman, when Batman takes care of it, and finally reaches the Joker somewhere afterwards. When he reaches the Joker, the Joker is completely dispirited and in a very low state of mind, and just wants an end to his eternal struggle with the authorities of Gotham, other people, and Batman. When Batman confronts him at the end of his scheme, he completely breaks down, finally feeling the mental weight of how tired he has become from being the villain and, as a result, outcast that he is. Batman sees this, and decides to try to rehabilitate the Joker. The arc could end there, or it could continue in different ways, in cynical ways, or in more optimistic ways. One way I think that arc could turn out I think could be where another villain in Gotham finds out about this whole new development between Batman and the Joker, and kidnaps Joker as the Joker is finally coming around to becoming a good citizen, significantly and dangerously jeopardising Joker's rehabilitation. The villain then uses this to his advantage, which could end up ruining all Batman has worked for, just generally ruining Batman in the eyes of Gotham, or turning the Joker criminally insane once more, in a tragic repeat of that fateful moment in his origin, in The Killing Joke.
I dunno, what do you guys think of that? Maybe it just sounds like a rambling 12-year-old with an over-active imagination going on a complete tangent or something, I dunno.

Also, is the Austin comic store Justin mentioned Round Rock Comics and Games? I've never been there, but the owner of that store's been on many podcasts in the past that I've listened into.

I need to find that Batman/Spiderman crossover. What was the title/year of that book? I would love to read more of that dynamic just because it would be so uncomfortable that it would make for great literature orrrrrr it could be 22 pages of Batman rolling his eyes.
I couldn't agree more on the reasons for the Cap. Marvel Vs Black Widow movie. Black Widow would make a great weekly TV show! I would make room on the DVR for that.

Just north of Austin a little bit, I think.

I usually listen the podcast and then within the next day or so i'll try and remember to come on here and say a little something, but i've noticed that's not, maybe, the best system, 'cause by the time I get around to coming on here I more-often-than-not will have forgotten half the stuff I wanted to comment on! THUS, i'm gonna try something new; i'm shakin' it up! I'm going to try a more piecemeal approach; throwing comments on here when they occur to me instead of trying to remember all of what I wanted to say after usually-too-much time has passed, even if that means I have to make several posts spaced hours or days apart in order to make this happen. To wit: the discussion on improving or adding context and extras or printing on better paper in physical issues in order to justify the price of or differentiate the physical copies from a digital copy was spot-on, you guys. Good points made, all around, and I very much agree. Just look at the difference between the paper that Image prints on and the paper that most of the other publishers print on (Marvel, especially, which i'm constantly noticing how thin and easily warped/creased it is); for that one reason alone, i'm much, much more likely to feel ok about forking out $4, let's say, for an Image book than a book from another publisher, because I love how it feels in my hand. There's a definite, very real feeling of substance from that nice, thick paper stock. Anyways, great discussion. Also, is the Austin comic store Justin mentioned Round Rock Comics and Games? I had a feeling that's the store you were talking about! My favorite weekly New Comic Book Day video by miles and miles is Danni Danger's Pull List, which can be found on the Weird Girls youtube channel like clockwork every Tuesday, and she films in Austin Books & Comics, and it looks incredible.

re: Black Widow movie
I've been meaning to say this for a little while; now's as good a time as any. When the movie slate was announced, one of the most common reactions on my tumblr feed was outrage that there was no Black Widow movie, and people essentially decrying everything MCU and saying really nasty things about Marvel and Feige and whatnot, and I was, and remain, completely taken aback and more than a little pissy at that response, and I think Bobby said it well with, "There's only so much they can do," which I believe holds all the water in the world. This missive isn't aimed at anyone on the TC crew; to the contrary, I think you guys had a very good, levelheaded chat about it. Thumbsup. But still, this is something that I feel like I need to say.
Let me clarify: I want a Black Widow movie. You want a Black Widow movie. WE ALL FUCKING WANT A BLACK WIDOW MOVIE, SO STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT OUT LIKE THAT ISN'T THE CASE, NAYSAYERS. Of COURSE she needs her own movie; like, it's super obvious. Or, you know, maybe a Netflix-ish series would be even better, because she's street-level, and that way you could do a bunch of episodic, mission-type stuff, with flashbacks and lots of time and room to tell her story (that would probably be ideal). But to say that Marvel is taking a shit on women by not announcing one right now, or that you're going to ragequit the MCU, or that the MCU isn't good anymore or worth being excited about because of the absence of such an announcement, or any of the other multitude of horrible things that I've seen written about this subject over the last couple of months (especially over the last 10 days or so), just blows me away. It's so petulant, and hyperbolic, and demanding, and totally disrespects and disregards the incredible series of films that we've gotten over the last 8 years and seem to be set to continue to get over the next 8+ years. Kelly Sue said something in the vein of (paraphrasing), "I consider The Avengers movies to be Black Widow movies" and that, to me, is very much true. And Winter Soldier is a Black Widow movie; she and Steve are without a doubt the center of that entire film, and she gets the majority of the best lines, and some incredible action sequences. And even so, i'm not saying that her huge roles in those totally absolve Marvel from having to make a proper solo movie/series for her; I still think we need one, eventually, but does it have to be right this very second or not at all? I haven't done the maths, but it looks like we're going to get something like 1.5 to 2 movies a year from the MCU for the next many, many years, and I am so, soooo excited about that. Can't we just enjoy what they're set to give us, most of which looks fucking incredible, without acting like 2 year olds because maybe we didn't get exactly what we wanted? I don't need to see an Inhumans movie; I can think of several Marvel titles i'd rather see in that spot, but that doesn't mean i'm upset about Inhumans. As far as I can tell, it'll be amazing, and massively enjoyable. Can we, Marvel fans, Black Widow fans, MCU fans, feminists, (I am all of these things) . . can we maybe just chillax on the rage for two seconds and sit back and enjoy what's coming? Maybe dial back the righteous indignation a few notches? Pretty please?
Now, if it's 2020, and they still haven't announced one, will I be disappointed? Yeah, probably, a bit. But that shouldn't affect my enjoyment of or appreciation for the rest of the MCU, past, present, or future.

(sorry for the yelling; none of that is directed at anyone here or anything i've seen on here. Methinks i've kept that particular mini-rant on my insides for too long, and it's been just frustrating the hell out of me.)
